    STLN Update #2 (I think)

Well..."a" layout is up. Until construction can begin on the Stateline RR, I put the folding table and plywood up from the old "Christmas village" setup. We (my 4 &6 year old girls...yes...girls and I) are running an oval and a circle. They have a HO Thomas The Tank Engine with 2 coaches. He's actually the fastest of all 9 of our powered locos and has unbelievable tracktive effort for his size. (We make him work a local freight once in a while!) I really put it up just to "claim" the floor space I cleared. I've still got to see why the spectrum 4-8-2 isn't doing anything. Maybe over the long weekend I'll get a chance to look at it again. Ship it on the Frisco!

Attached is a video of the current condition of my layout or what I like to call, "September Snow in Stateline, AL.":D I think that accurately describes the current state of the layout until construction on the new layout can begin.

The space cleared for the Stateline RR layout in the playroom (that's southern for rec room) was crowded out by the powers that be (the kids...and their toys). I have started putting up a table in a room that no one else will want to overtake... a storage room at the back of our carport. The table is a rectangle with a rectangular hole in the middle. The table measures 96" x 65" with the hole measuring 48" x 24". It goes wall to wall on three sides so I need access in the middle. I'm using 3/4" plywood from a previous layout for the table top. Construction is slow due to time constraints but progress is steady. I will actually have 2.66 more sq. ft. of table top that in the playroom. I will have a double track oval with a siding on the outer track.
I'm still going with a freelance shortline layout (Stateline RR) that will interchange with the BNSF "in the wonderful world of make believe." It will consist of a Pulpwood Yard/Sawmill, Sand/Gravel/Cement/Concrete facility, Small Farm, Small business dist., Small coal mining operation, KCM&B/Frisco/BN museum, houses. etc... rural...blue collar...much like the small communities that sprung up along the B'ham sub in MS & AL. Pictures to come when completed.

I am pleased to announce that I not only finished the new table for my freelance shortline "State Line Railroad" (former SLSF State Line branch) layout but I also painted it green this evening. It will need a 2nd coat this weekend. ...I'm one step closer tonight!
