Please see the following photographs of the South Belleview Boulevard underpass bridge in Memphis, TN.

Cast into the concrete bridge side over the center roadway pier is the built date 1924.

Mike Condron's web site for Memphis also has photos from an earlier time of the same underpass. Please also see:

    http://www.condrenrails.com/MRP/Memphis-Bridges/Memphis-overpasses.htm

The bridge is just southeast of K.C. Junction, MP 485.9. This is also near the former Southern Railway (Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway) Balleview Avenue Yard and the Union Railway of Memphis (a Missouri Pacific property) Sargent Yard. Both yards were to the east of the underpass.

The bridge is lettered on at least the south side with "Frisco Lines to St. Louis and Kansas City". One the end pier on the right side is a "Frisco Lines" coonskin with "St. Louis San Francisco RY." bar below the herald. The underpass is marked with warning signs for low clearance of 13' 9". Note that this is a lower clearance than the 14' 0" in the 1982 photographs on Mike's web site.

The bridge is in the 900 block of South Belleview Avenue. It is located east of Interstate I-240, south of the Lamar Avenue interchange (Exit 29) and North of the South Parkway East interchange (Exit 28).

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
