Attached is an interesting pic of SLSF 5007, the F3A that was rebuilt into a F9A by EMD, 1750 HP (up from 1500HP), and equipped with dynamic brakes with the 48" fan. It is pictured here in o/w colors, and after it was renumbered to SLSF 77.

Also in the pic is SLSF 5132, F7B, in o/w and renumbered to SLSF 132.

There is something strange about this pic. Can anybody see what I mean?

    Answer below. Don't peek!

Yes!, the d/b fan is missing from 77. Anybody know why? Removed for servicing? Removed just prior to trade-in? Just plain removed? Yet another Frisco mystery.

    Ken,
They must have moved the dynamic brake fan from 77 and relocated it to my first Frisco model (an HO-Scale F7using an Athearn blue box unit).

I'm thinking of converting it to an FP-7 for service on our Northern Division, renumbering and repowering and finally rectifying all of the beginner mistakes I made. Someday...

Chris - That can't be the right answer. The F9's, like SLSF 5007/77, used a 48" d/b fan. The earlier F7's & FP7's that had d/b (none Frisco) used a 36" d/b fan, same size as the radiator cooling fans. So, your model has a 36" d/b fan on it.

Rather than cutting up your F7 to make it into a FP7, take a look at either the Intermountain (OK) or Athean Genesis (real nice!) FP7's.
