I am the director of the Mammoth Spring National Fish Hatchery (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) and will soon open a new $4 million dollar Visitor Center in Mammoth Spring Ar. One of the main reasons Mammoth Spring National Fish Hatchery was built adjacent to the Frisco line was so that it would have access to the railroad. The Center will feature an exhibit on "Fish Cars" which were at first converted baggage cars used to transport fish in the early 1900's to about 1940 when there was a lack of good roads and trucks. I have a very detailed "O" scale model of a fish car built about 10 years ago (obtained from the FWS meuseum archives) depicting a cut-a-way of one of the early fish cars. In order to complete the display I am looking for a sutibly detailed and/or weathered Frisco engine and a few passenger cars of that era to make the diorama (with Mammmoth Spring Station) more realistic. The engine does not have to be operational, since for now it is a static display. It will be housed in a case and the exhibit built by a professional exhibit designer. It would be great if one could be donated or loaned as I have limited personal funds to purchase. You can Google "fish cars" at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to find out more about this subject. Or contact me for more information.
