Hello, We became interested in the Frisco Highline due to the fact we bought some property with part of the abandoned line on it. We are not originally from MO, so this is all new and fun to learn about. We both love trains and history and this forum is perfect.
Rosanna and your husband, welcome to the group. There's a lot to explore here so have fun and don't hesitate asking questions. We have very knowledgeable members that can help. Joe
Rosanna and Steve, Welcome Aboard! We have a full crew of knowledgeable people about most everything Frisco in addition to what can be found by using the Search engine or just browsing through the site.
I still do not have pictures of the cut on the Weaubleau curve, but we went to Belton today and I have pictures of the #1632 steam train that ran on the highline. She is sorry shape! Here is a link to the history of this engine. https://locomotive.fandom.com/wiki/Frisco_No._1632 I also found this post on it. "This loco getting ready to take a spin on the turntable at Clinton, MO, was part of the canceled Russian decapod order due to the Russian Bolshevik Revolution in 1917. If eventually was rebuilt to fit US rails and sold to the Frisco as their #1632. After over 30 years of service, the loco (along with 1615,1621,1625 &1630) was sold to the Eagle Pciher Mining Company in October of 1951. In 1965, the loco was donated to the Smoky Hill Rwy & Historical Society of Ottawa, KS. Interestingly, I ran into this loco at the Belton, Grandview & Kansas City RR in Belton, MO, in 2015 as it sat on static display It was moved there in 1995 to make a nice addition to their static roster." Enjoy!
