This notice comes from Greg Napper, Richard's brother and Larry Parrish.

"All of the locomotives and rolling stock from Richard's basement, plus some of the modeling tools and the structures he created have been moved to Hobby Depot in Topeka. This Saturday, Sept. 28, from 11 until 5, all of these items will be sold without the shop's commission, all of the proceeds going to Richard's estate. The prices on the items are the shop prices, and anything not sold will be at the shop until it is sold. Therefore, this isn't a "last chance" deal, but an opportunity to buy while there is still a large selection with all of the proceeds going to the estate.

Hobby Depot is located at 5628 S.W. 26th St., Topeka, KS 66614. It is just west of the I-470 exits for Fairlawn/29th Sts. in a strip mall on the north side of 29th. The mall is in a U shape facing 29th, and the shop is in the northeast corner of the U--next to the bar!:

Boy, sure wish we had some pictures of the stuff for all us geographically challenged folks. I would like to have some of Richards stuff, would be glad to help with his Estate to the degree I could, but would like to see it before laying down the $$$. Hope that doesn't sound "nitpickish" I would just like to see the items.
I hope all goes well for his friends and family.
    Best Regards,

Ebay would've been perfect for this.

Unfortunately Richard's brother is not computer savvy and didn't want to spend much time dealing with all the stuff himself; realistically he was/is overwhelmed.

I appreciate the news, and would gladly help to defray some of Richard's debt by purchasing some of his work, but Topeka is just a wee bit over 5 hours away from here. Is there a possibility in the future of a list of items available? I understand it must be a massive undertaking compiling such a list, but it would help us who were friends of Richard's who live a considerable distance from Topeka, and wish to help.

I'm sure whatever he has is in good condition- I've seen his modeling work in person, and was impressed.

Good luck with the sale, and my best wishes to the Napper family & friends as well as the hobby shop carrying these items.

  6. Richard's books, timetables and other paper items are being handled by John Lauer at tpwillie@prodigy.net Over 1000 books, not just on Frisco. If you are interested, he will send you a spreadsheet.
