Okay, Sherrel. I went downstairs and bent the wheel down a bit. I'm sure that wasn't good for the bearings but maybe I'll get a few more miles out of her now. Thanks for catching that.

Old #97 is in her final year of service and here she's taking water at Brownwood,MO before backing her train up the 8 miles to Zalma.

Some world class modeling here, composition and depth of your modeling is just plain inspiring Jim.
Thanks for sharing photos of your efforts.

Almost finished with a Jordan Minatures farm wagon modified to haul hand hewn cross ties.

  5. Are you a brain surgeon, to have such steady hands? Or do you have a crew of HO scale pixies to do the detail work?

Excellent work! Sometimes Jordan's kits aren't a stroll on the beach to assemble and get just right.

You guys are the best, thanks. Super glue, tweezers and cheap craft paint made all this happen. Tonight I should get the horses and tack finished and I'll post a final photo.

I painted the horses tonight but I'm not looking forward to adding the tack.

Last week I built a Jordan farm wagon but then I discovered Vector Cut laser kits and I bought two of their farm wagons and built one of them over the weekend. I think they look more common than the Jordan kit and it was a hoot to build with good instructions. The wood grain has to be added using an Xacto knife because the kit isn't made of wood but rather some other material. The framework on the underside is also easy to assemble. I think I prefer this over the Jordan. I especially like the spring supported front seat and handbrake. I'm glad my chosen era allows for both horse drawn wagons and early autos.

I really like the wagon. I looks just like my grandfathers with the exception of the brake lever. Even the colors are the same. He used it to get in his crops and get the cotton to the mill right up until he passed in 1978.

Thanks again Jim for giving up a few masterpieces! They ride again on the Crawford and Cherokee, coming into town from Ft. Scott....

Looking good, Bob! I'm glad those models have broadened their horizons. The caboose looks cool with the marker lamps lit up. Thanks for posting the pics.

Here is a picture from a couple of years ago on my live steam railroad... I guess it qualifies as a "layout". :D This is a bit of history now that the caboose is gone and the switchback has been abandoned:

Wow, James. That's the ultimate layout for sure. The scenery looks so real :)

Well, another false clear, wow. Still some progress. The road turned out nice. The fence, maybe a loss. Might cover it with weeds. The area still, has a lot of work left, but here it is so far.
Seems like the drunks are out, don't know why they are always on the wrong side of the road.

That fence looks good. I would like to see a better photo of it. I've got some fencing of various types to model but I've never made any before. All those locos are nice to see.

Jim, I was really inspired by Tom Holly's fencing, but beings I have a foam surface I needed to try a different way. So I tried the various kits and quickly discovered that most of the kits are so fragile that they fall apart. Now I would have to say I used way too much glue as it easily spread to the areas that clogged the links. I decided that I would put vegatation on the fence, because most fences on the railroad are, in some cases completely covered. I still need to cover my fence and then I will determine whether to keep it or not. I think it is important to share our failures and sucesses in modeling to try to allow everyone the chance to not make the same. I had a little trouble with the light on my other photo, but think this one is a little better. This kit is eteched metal, the posts were plastic, so I cut brass rod that I already had on hand.

I think your fence looks fine William. Like you say you could use some vegetation (I had not thought of that, good idea) on it and maybe dry brush some of the spots if you wanted too. But what you really need is a bunch of those little water bottles poked in the fence :). I see your main tracks are ballasted, tamped and broomed only like a Roadmaster would have it. I think its a fine bunch of modeling there myself. It's a nice looking RR.
Haven't been able to keep up with all the threads and posts.

    Ditto what Tom said!
a small amount of litter in the park and an overflowing trash bin too would add to it.
