Where would one place a "layout build" thread that doesn't deal with the Frisco specifically? OR, would it even be appropriate here?

My thought - a layout is a layout, it is universal no matter what railroad is featured. The skills demonstrated will be useful on any model railroad layout.

So, in your opinion, okay to post here at the Frisco site... but what forum would you suggest? "General" (Frisco) modeling, or "Off Topic"?

I don't want to ruffle feathers of any that might not think a build thread for a freelanced theme would not be appropriate at Frisco.org.

Your layout theme at least has Frisco ties. . . .

Andre, lets converse about this via a separate conversation.

    Well that sounds ominous, Keith.

Late at night and I'm just seeing your reply. I have things to attend to tomorrow morning. It may be a while before I touch base with you, but I think I sense that such a build thread would not be kosher here.

Don't think that at all, Andre.
I will stand up for you. I just tied up and saw your post. I know that myself and a couple others have pushed the on topic stuff. My QA&P is distantly related, but my modern QA&P is certainly not "conforming".
So don't go there just yet. If it is based on territory relevant to the Frisco and has Frisco related history (No matter how far back) I don't see a problem.

I don't see any problem if the subject is one of our members building a layout, showing how he/she does it, what techniques, etc, no matter what the railroad is. However, I don't think this site will want the postings to get into the specifics of the ATSF, UP, PRR, MoP, etc or some other non-Frisco or non-Frisco related railroad that will run on this layout. They all have their own historical societies, etc, to communicate their specifics.
    Just my thoughts!

    Hi All:

    Thanks for your input.

    Keith: PM sent.

    palallin:

Yes, my Kansas City & Gulf freelanced theme would touch base with the Frisco, but the Frisco would not be specifically modeled, the Ozark Sub layout less so than the West Bottoms layout (where Frisco power can show up).

    Tom:

Waiting to read Keith's thoughts on this via PM.

    meteor:

Yes, techniques are techniques. Prototypes: Seems to me to be a no-brainer to not delve into specifics about other prototypes.

    All:

I may be best served to simply keep my build threads over at MRH and OGR where such can be accommodated, but I also enjoy interacting with my Frisco friends, hence the idea of a build thread here.

    All for now.

have never been told that it was not "kosher".

I just love these squabbles that have nothing to do with railroading. Get them rules straight Guy's so we can jump each other at the drop of a lift pin. Oh by the way Tornado on the ground in Joplin.
PS: I will have to stand with Ken and Tom on this one.

Thanks Keith for weighing-in on this. In retrospect, I should have taken the question to you off-forum via PM. I didn't think it out far enough, instead I just up and posted it. I apologize for my lack of judgement in that respect.

Thanks guys for your indulgence in being open to a Frisco-fan posting up a build thread about a freelanced layout effort that draws its inspiration from the Frisco (and other regional roads), but doesn't model the Frisco specifically. (I see there are several of us here that do that.)

When the time comes to begin posting, I shall post it in the "Off Topic" forum in an effort to keep it where it ought to be.

All fer now. Gotta' take a carburetor off a motorcycle and run it up to Fort Smith for testing.
