I was going through some photographs this weekend and came across these shots of QA&P Caboose 52 and boxcar 531. Date and location of shots is unknown. Jeff Cooney, Lindsay, TX
Ken, I can only assume the logo is on the boxcar. I wish I had more information on these shots. The repack stencil shows a date of 11-25-60 at QH which I would guess to be Quanah. Jeff
The logo pic has to be of the boxcar, since the QA&P hack is unlikely to be 40ft long. The pic of the caboose looks to be a Frisco 3-window cab, which were about 37 ft in length, plus there are no grabs on the end of the sides of the caboose. Ken
For those with access to McCall/Schultz's Frisco Southwest there is a picture of QA&P box 531 on page 119. Rich
If you look closely at the picture of the caboose, the car number is under the logo, so the coonskin has to be on the boxcar (or some other car). Paul
Greetings All, Thanks for posting the QA&P photos. Never too many photos I think. I may have found the motherlode of QA&P photos. If you have looked at the Hofsommer book on the QA&P, you will note that some of the photos are from an EB Marsalis collection. I have been able to locate (thru my famiy in Qaunah) some of his relation in Grand Prarie, Texas that has some, part or all of the collection. He seemed receptive to the idea of me coming buy and copying some of these photos. The problem is he is 1000 miles away one way. Does anyone here no of someone that would be willing to talk to this fellow and perhaps look at the collection, I am convinced that it would have some very interestig historical photos of all things QA&P. I just called and Talked to Jerry Marsalis (EB Marsalis was his dad) and he indicated he had no problem talking about, or showing and letting someone copy the prints. there are 300 photos +/- If anyone is interested please contact me gjbndude@bresnan.net Thanks Tom Holley Grand Junction CO
