    Hello there!

I’m a 22 year old history buff from Salem. Myself and my friends (all 20-24) are researching the Salem branch and its various spurs. We have spent times in archives, spoken to locals, and got permission from property owners to physically walk old railroad beds. We aim to hike as much rail as possible this winter, and we’ve already covered a lot of ground.

All of our research is being compiled by me into Google MyMaps. We are making this available to anyone who wants to use it as we research, and it’s updated a few times a week with new findings.

We are currently on the trail of 2 separate mine spurs that were previously undocumented, and have secured permission from property owners to walk the lines. We can’t wait to report back our findings to you.

I’m going to include the link to our Google Map. There are inaccuracies that need corrected, but I am proud of having this much done as a 22 year old. We would love the guidance of this group to ensure our research is as accurate as possible. I look forward to hearing from you all, and I will be posting a lot more in this forum!
