    Hello Everyone;

    I'm the new guy.

    I am currently in the US Army and stationed in the DC area, however that will change soon my home will always be the river div. , as I'm from just a bit north around the Oak Ridge Perryville area.
    When the BN took over my uncle was the youngest card carring driving enginner on the railway, his nick name is Hollywood if you might know him.

    Howdy Rob,

    Welcome to FRISCo_Org. thanks for serving.

    I really got involved with Frisco activities while I was stationed in Belgium...long time ago in a land far away.

    I left DC four years ago and am glad to be back down south where there isn't quite as much traffic or pomp and circumstance.

    Enjoy the site,
    mike

    Welcome, Rob, from another Southeast Missourian (Cape). Where you grew up is very close to the old Cape Girardeau & Chester (later Cape Girardeau Northern), one of the numerous Houck railways my great-grandfather fired on. Are you planning to model at some point in time?

    Hello,

    My brother has a map from 1904 I think and it shows that line running up and about through cape county, at 1 point on route B where cape/perry line is there is a spot where they spiked the rail to a slab of rock, ( I think it was that line you mentioned) it is on a hill over looking the little white water creek.
    I rabbit hunted there when I was 10 or 12, the new owners though don't like people on their ground though.
    That was in the late 70's.
    There was also great rabbit hunting down along the iron mountain right of way between the hill and the diversion channel bridge.
    The Frisco police didn't make a stink of it but the cotton belt and now UP fellers (UP cops have issues) and like their rabbits alive and not in my stew pot!!

    Hello Again;

    I think I have my rail lines mixed up.
    The one I mentioned went from Jackson over to Oak Ridge, then up to Perryville I'm not sure nut I think it finnished up somewhere toward Chester but it might have gone north from Perryville.

    Yes, that is the old Cape Girardeau & Chester, later the Cape Girardeau & Northern. It went out of Jackson to Fruitland, Oak Ridge, Perryville, and on to Chester and Ste Genevieve.

    OH, OK,

    So do you know the area I'm talking about then Right?
    I would say it is about a clik, I mean half mile upstream from the B road bridge.
    As you approach the hill going down to the bridge on the cape county side it is the last house on the left just before the little bit of a turn to the left.
    From what I can remember it is pretty much straight behind the trailer house but might be more toward the pole barn to the left of the trailer.
    I didn't know they had steamers thought it was a gas thing like a galloping goose and carried mail milk and eggs.
    I also thought that was for a some day power expansion but thought the line went bust somewhat fast and steam never really had much impact on the line.
    Ya learn something new all the time!
    Nice to know it had real power.
    Some one needs to put in a light rail line between Cape,Jackson Scott City and Perryville. with the cost of fuel it would work out!!

    Howdy and welcome, Rob. Just passed through that area on my way to/from Chaffee last weekend. A lot of wind damage is still pretty evident from a few weeks back!

    Best Regards,
