Hello, my name is Richard Wilkens and thought I would give a background of who I am. I have been involved in railroad preservation for over 40 years and for the past seven years I have been involved with the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway Historical Society which is located at the Pacific Northwest Railroad Archive (PNRA) in Burien, Washington. Also I'm the Vice-President of the PNRA. The PNRA has four railway history organizations as members, the Northern Pacific Railway Historical Association, the Great Northern Railway Historical Society, the Cascade Rail Foundation (Milwaukee Road), and the SP&S Railway Historical Society. The reason I'm posting on Frisco matters is that in September of this year a transfer was made from the archives at Jackson Street Roundhouse (JSRH) in St. Paul, MN to the PNRA. At JSRH was 14 boxes of Frisco records along with four large Frisco equipment ledgers. The material was transferred to the PNRA as it was not wanted at JSRH but several of us saw value in this collection. This collection consists of original items with the primary areas being equipment records and Authorization For Expenditure (AFE) completion reports for projects on the railway. These last items are sorted by state, railway company and Valuation Section. We are in the beginning phase of working to get these records preserved at an appropriate institution where they can be made available for research. While they are secure now we would like to see them transferred to an appropriate institution closer to where the Frisco operated.
