Hello Everyone! My grandfather, Frank R. Dillon, at the age of 15, started as a serviceboy, then became a fireman, and retired an Engineer. His years of service (from his log/time books) appear to have started in 1906 (although I only have a time/pay book as early as 1911.) His branch/route was Rolla/Newburg to Springfield. As the father of five, I believe he lived within walking distance to the train yards in Rolla, Newburg (my mom was born there) and Springfield. Unfortunately this incredible person passed when I was just 10 yrs of age. My mom passed 10 years ago, and my uncle, the biggest locomotive collector/historian for my grandfather, within the past year. I hope to gather information here that will complement scrapbooks. I am happy, upon request to scan and post information for those who may have an interest about the route at that time. I am very happy to have found this site. Thank you. -Jeannette

    Jeannette -

Let me add my welcome to the group as well!

A significant number of us in frisco.org are very interested in the SLSF Eastern Division (St Louis to Springfield and on), in particular the beautiful Cuba - Rolla - Newburg - Bundy Jct - Dixon section. We would urge you to post any interesting tid-bits, pics, or other information you run across in your family papers and scrapbooks.
