I'd like to introduce myself as a new member to this group. My name is Scott Porinsky (username: sporinsky) and I reside in Hartland, Wisconsin on the former Milwaukee Road Chicago-Twin Cities mainline. I have worked the past 20 years as a software engineer developing database and web applications and technology. In a previous career I spent 14 years in the 70's and 80's as a train dispatcher on The Milwaukee Road in Milwaukee Wisconsin and Burlington Northern in Cicero, Illinois, working every position in both offices. I currently am an Erie Railroad (pre E-L merger) fan, focusing on the Southern Tier of New York State. Last week I returned from a vacation to Branson, MO and followed the ex-Frisco line from Springfield to Cabool. It appears to be a very rugged line with single track CTC and lots of curves and hills, including a tight curve at Cabool. (That's about all I could tell as I sailed down the highway with 3 other non-railroaders.) I originally looked at this site and then joined to find out more about this area and to determine if any photos were available.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Scott, WElcome aboard, I too spent 14 years on the railroad between the 90's up to 2006. I was a conductor, and engineer. I enjoyed it and miss it. My uncle also spent 43 years working as a dispatcher for the Santa Fe/ BNSF. He lied his age at 17 and worked as an operator/ dispatcher in the Argentine Yards in Kansas City, then to Schomburg Illinois, then finally Fort Worth, Texas, where he retired as a dispatcher last October. HIs name is Merle Whitcher, maybe you know him. Anyway welcome and hope you have a wonderful time as a member of this group.
