I've been working on some new F3 and F7 skins over the weekend. Here's 5014. They'll be available for free download. The B units should be soon to follow.

I haven't released them yet so I can still make changes. What do you think?

    I bet.

I still have over 10 hours in photoshop invested with this paint job. What's nice is if I can get just one close to perfect the other variations will come much quicker.

Very nice. I was working on one, but you have beat me to finishing several.
Is the shade of green anti-glare over the nose correct? It seems right, but something tells me it should be darker and more olive.
Also, what are the base models? N8phu's "cigar band" F units?

I sampled the color from a nice photo of an Atheran model. Someone in the forums mentioned it was a very accurate reproduction. It's hard to find many good color photos of the anti-glare but from what I found in my research it seemed more of a blueish grey. That might not be correct though.

Yes the base skin is N8phu's but the base model is Justin Cornell's at Jointed Rail. Justin's F7's might be the most reskinned and tweaked model in Trainz.

After looking back at my F-3 re-skin-in-progress, I notice it has nearly the same shade for the anti-glare. It may have come from the same Athearn model photo!

Would you like me to email the .cdp file for it? You could take it for a spin.

Well, yes, indeed. Thank you for your very kind offer. I will run it along the Little Piney.

    Derrick -

Your "skins in progress" look great. Wish we could see these units in real life again!

You asked for comments - to my eyes, the FRISCO on the side looks a bit too big. Is there any way you can easily decrease it? The overall length of the FRISCO should about equal the distance between the first and the last side louver as a way to gauge the length, with the height proportional. Also, if you are going the keep them in the F3 delivery scheme we talked about above, you should add the small unit numbers in the yellow at the rear side of the units, both A and B.

    Nice work!

Nice observation Ken and thanks. Take a look at this new version of 5035. I resized the FRISCO. It's not perfect but it is somewhat of a challenge to get the right text height in relationship to the text spacing. I also shortened the length of the top yellow stripe at the cab a bit. I do believe overall this version looks better.

I wasn't sure if I could get text small enough to represent the 2 inch tall yellow unit numbers on the back of 5014. I might give it a shot and see if it's visible.

Glad you like them. Though I would buy a boxed copy of TS2010 or TS2012 and wait for it in the mail. Depending what vendor you are downloading from Ive heard of of some issues.

If I could squeeze in one more hobby it could be V scale but I think I'll just sit back and enjoy your fine work. Modeling on a different plane. Very nice.

Frisco in V scale! Gotta' love it! Keep up the good work, Derrick!

    Jim:

You ought'ta see how easy link n' pin couplers work in V scale! No tweezers to piddle with! :D (And no track to clean!)
