Nice looking truck, Jim. Seems like we could see John or John Boy Walton climbing into the driver's seat. It looks like it's seen better days in the hills of Bollinger County. Best Regards,
This is some stellar modeling! Your layout is truly an inspiration. It almost makes me want to give up the O&W diesels and start over doing turn of the century modeling. Smaller steam and wooden cars have a great appeal.
Thanks, Chris and David. You're too kind. I find the slower pace of this old branchlne more relaxing than modern era operations. Old chuffing steamers and creaking wooden cars swaying along the rusty right of way at a blazing 25 mph. That's the Zalma Branch way.
Great looking truck Jim. You've done a great job with the lumber on the truck bed. It truly looks as if was tossed onto the back. Maybe from a small loading platform. A fine detail that makes the scene.
Thanks, Derrick. I think I'm more of a diorama guy than a model railroader. You're doing great with Vscale. Someday I would like to try that. A digital Zalma Branch.
Another freight car roaming the Zalma Branch. Just finished this Labelle kit tonight and thought I'd post a pic. This tank car is weary and in her last year of service. My next project will be the general store at Richardson. Thanks for checking in.
Wish I could see it Jim, Every time I try to view or manage a attachment my screen locks up. Bummer, wish I could see it, but I am sure its outstanding. Manny's decals?
Thanks, Chris. It's a wood kit with very thin styrene sheet with rivet patterns that wraps around a wood dowel for the tank. Bummer, Tom. Those are indeed Manny decals. He tells me he's getting out of the hobby. Not sure why.
Hi Y'all, Jim, that tank car turned out good. I hope that the series of instructions I emailed you will help you with future tank cars. Yes, the decal is one I produced. I produced several others as well. As Keith said, my heart is turned towards service to Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I'm hitting the road to preach the good news and bring as many into the Kingdom as I can before the Great and Terrible Day of the LORD arrives. If anyone is interested in decals, I'll come up with a way you can receive some for free. I want to just liquidate the collection. Keith has received Rich Nappier's artwork from me and he is looking to have Rich's artwork produced. I've given up on the hobby. I just don't have the heart to do anymore, in light of the lateness of the hour. Thanks to all in the Frisco group for your kindness and generosity. Back to the Zalma Branch. Please PM me if you have any thoughts, questions, or comments. Thanks, Manny
That's heavy news, Manny. You're first rate modeling posts will be greatly missed. Let's stay in touch and I'll letter the next tank car for the Texas Oil Co.
Richardson, MO. It was located between Brownwood and Greenbrier but its long gone and not a trace remains today but it's the one section of my layout that has received no attention. The track isn't even painted or ballasted. I've started scratchbuilding the general store but no photos of it exist so I'm breaking the rules and freelancing it. I'm using leftover scrap wood, some styrene and super glue. I've strived to keep it "in the spirit of the area". I just set it up and propped up the awning for a photo. I still have to add the roof, foundation and porch. The backside view shows how it's all show and no go. Thanks for checking it out. I'll post photos of the finished model when it's finished.
Looks good to me Jim, I like the old tired look you bring to your buildings, the rust and other colors are simply fantastic.
Trees, Buildings, Cars, Trucks, Railcars, Draglines, Trestles, Backdrops, WOW! You are truly talented at making the most of whatever you have and try to do.
Thanks fellas! You're all the best. I really enjoy posting progress pics of my Zalma Branch even though it's slow at times and not always Frisco related. I especially like the feedback and advice from all of you folks. Tonight I'll work on the floor, porch and roof.
