Wow! I am so impressed. Thank you Jim so much for posting all this up! That is fantastic work. That is exactly how I need my rail to look. You captured TOC railway right-of-ways perfectly. Please, please submit this to the magazines. You need to do it! Somebody needs to do it! Thanks again. More pics! More pics! More pics!

I hope this photo shows up for everyone. I bought some fake fur and used it for ground cover. I added dirt and some ground foam after using a brush to fluff it a bit then cut to fit. Just an experiment but so far so good.

That's great! Where did you buy the fake fur from? What are you using as ground between the mainline and the siding in the first picture? I could see some deer grazing in that patch of grass. Totally awesome Jim. More, more, more! Yes, I am your biggest supporter.

Time to start the fun stuff! I added the creek and bridge at Greenbrier last night. I used knives to cut out the foam for the stream bed and cut the cork road bed away and pulled the ties off so that the bridge (which I salvaged from the old module) would fit. I then added Sculptamould to the creek bed and worked it aroung the pilings of the bridge.

    Jim,

Anymore updates? How is the bridge/creek coming along? Also, did you cut out every other tie for your spacing? Looks like it. You may have explained it, but I can't see it, or just missed it.

Thanks! Keep up the great work!

I'm detailing the creekbed right now and then using two part magic water for the first time. Should be fun!

That looks real good Jim. You really captured the limestone and the rocky bed looks good. Can't wait to see you pour the water. Looking forward to it! A+, 5 ***** job!

Spent some time on scenery tonight and thought I would share a progress pic or two. I added more detail to the creek bed including more stones and weeds. Pouring the "water" will be the very last step so that's a few days off. I also added some ground cover which is made from fake fur. I love this fake fur method. Very easy and not messy.

It's looking very nice, Jim. I'll have to give you a call next time I'm in Cape.

p.s. If you check with Sharon Sanders, Librarian at the Missourian, you might be able to get access to some old pictures from the Brownwood, Greenbrier and Zalma area. As I recall, I saw some from the Juden Family collection that she has that include those areas.

Thanks for the tip, Keith. Good to hear from you. When I get this layout finished maybe you could get some good photos of it for magazine submissions.

Tonight I poured the first batch of "Magic Water" in my creek. After this drys I'll add one more thin layer. After a few touch-ups I will add a few trees to the bank and some bushes. This creek has been a fun project. Much more fun than laying track. Thanks for following along.

Very nice Jim. That looks good. Don't try to add too much more. That creek looks so realistic as it is! Very nice indeed!

I did three things tonight and I can post pics of two of them. The first thing I did was add a new florescent light above the layout area which is something I should've done at the beginning. The second thing was finishing the creek scene. The trees really make a difference.

The third thing was beginning the dirt roads in Greenbrier and I'm using leftover cork roadbed as the road base and will cover it with spackling compound. I've never tried this method before so wish me luck. The cork roadbed is a scale 14 1/2' wide which is just about right. The beveled edges are downwards.

Bro, if that isn't a coverpage for a model railroading magazine, I don't know what is! That is one heck of a job! That is sweet. Looks so real! Very nice! As for the cork, for a minute there I thought you were laying more track until I read. Lookin' good. Interesting way of making dirt roads. Can't wait to see it finished.

Ok. I'm happy with the way my dirt roads turned out and I added the hill at Greenbrier along with some more fake fur ground cover. Have I mentioned how much I love this fur scenery? Next I will add the structures and some trees. Here's a couple of progress photos. The water pump is still there today. Thanks for checking in.

This photo been lost. Here is a similar photo.

Nice! Very nice! Think about adding some coal cinders along, and inside the rails. Were there any cross-bucks at the road crossing? Is the town you are modeling real or a resemblance of a once town? If real, what other details do the pictures show that you might be able to add? How 'bout a new movie with your train coming around the bend, over the crossing, and blah, blah, blah? I love it. More, more, more!
