They have been using the mobile home that you can also see in the picture and what I've been told is there is not enough room. There will be new offices for the trainmaster and such as well as an area for training purposes.
Wow, those are big doins. We were in town right after New Year's Day, and I didn't notice any pending construction. Seems a shame to have wasted a perfectly good brick depot c. 1981-1982. Tim, Do you know if they plan on leaving the concrete block building just to the north? I still think of it alone as the "new depot." Seems that it was previously a locker/wash room in the 1970s. Best Regards,
I heard rumblings that the line is being updated. Something about running oil trains through there. Any thoughts?
Oil Trains are running though with one train going to Pemiscot Port Authority on the Caruthersville Branch.
Good news, bad news. The new depot is finished. I will post a picture soon. Bad news is they razed the old buildings. No more Frisco in Chaffee.
Nuts. That's too bad. The circa 1982-present depot was the last vestige of the Frisco that I can recall. Or is it? When I was there in January, the old stone wall along the south side of West Yoakum where the freight house used to stand was still there, I think? However, that hardly counts. Thanks for the update, Tim. Best Regards,
