    Now that's purdy cool. Glad that Trainz now has more Frisco stuff invading the Trainz virtual world!

    May have some more Frisco diesel stuff headed our way in the MSTS world, also.

    I was cleaning my index finger and accidentally clicked on the download :) Thanks for all the hard work! We need an original mesh FP-7.

    I've heard rumors of the guys at jointedrail.com are working on one. I've been trying to get an E8 done but no luck yet. I'd love the challenge of painting one of those in Frisco colors.

    Definitely an advanced skill project to skin an E-8 for Frisco. Can you imagine the coding for the "autonumbering" routine if you decided to tackle that? Back on topic, I noticed the e-spec for the F-3 was different and not in the download. No problem, it turns out, for it is on the Trainz Download station. All my new "cutworm" F-3 and F-7s are operational. Thanks again.

    Glad ad you found the F-3 engine spec on the DLS and you're enjoying the rest. Dave Snow from the Traniz forum was rumored to be working on an E-8 but I've never heard of him finishing it. What is cutworm?

    Somewhere within the hallowed archives of frisco.org forum is a posting that referred to the passenger units as "redbirds." This is easy enough to figure out. Somewhere in that thread or in the same posting someone else mentioned the yellow and black stripe color scheme for freight diesels earned them the nickname "cutworms." Later, the stripes were removed to make the "cigar band" against the black car body; the same scheme with red in place of black ended up on some of the passenger units.

    "Cutworm" was what Frisco employees called the F-3's when they first arrived. My folks had a long time lady friend of the family who worked at the old Frisco storeroom on East Commercial street in Springfield (That building later became a grocery wholesale house) and she said that's what they all called the "new diesels." "New Diesels" was another term I remember.

    Derrick,

    What files need to be downloaded for this besides the Frisco ones? It shows missing dependencies.

    Did these F3 and F7 diesels have the Leslie 5-tone horns? These have the Nathan M5 hornsound, kuid:37581:1151. I guess it has five tones. Jointed Rail's SD45 has the "Leslie S5T #2" hornsound, kuid:37581:1046. That is probably closer to prototype as far as sound goes, though not quite right because the model Frisco bought had some bells facing forward and some facing backwards. Technically, this meant a different model number.

    Missing dependencies? I had to go to the Download Station for some of the dependencies. I had downloaded the "cigar band" F units earlier, so some dependencies may have come with those.

    Guys,

    Here's a great tool to find missing dependency files for assets hosted on 3rd party websites.

    http://www.trainzkuidindex.com/eng/Assets/search

    You can enter :

    • only the author id : you will get a list of web sites where assets of this author are proposed;
    • the author id and the asset id : you will get a list of sites where any version of this kuid can be found and the links to all pages of those sites where it can be downloaded;
    • the full kuid with the asset version : you will get a list of sites where this version of this kuid can be found and the links to all pages of those sites where it can be downloaded. Enter 0 as asset version for full kuid of old type without asset version.

    Remember : the author id is the first number of the kuid, the asset id the second number and the asset version the third number. Only the kuid2 format has the asset version. The old kuid format has only 2 numbers, assuming that the version number is 0.

    Content Manager in Trainz can produce a list of dependencies for any asset.

    Here's some screenshots looking for the Locomotive sound effects library v1.08 <kuid2:45324:54002:4> used in the Frisco F7s. As you can see results produce a long list of where this dependency can be found with web links.
