    Hi Y'all,

I need your help. I'm not quite happy with the San Antonio de Bexar logo. I want to keep the Coon Skin, but something needs to be done about what is inside it.

Something with flair like the QA&P would be nice. I just don't know what to do. Those who help come up with the ideas for the logos will win a prize. A nice one too!

    Thanks for helping out.

    Manny

How about the initials done in a script style underlined like the (L.A.) Dodgers' lettering?

Manny, I don't know how you made yours, but the way I made my Iantha Branch coonskin was take a black coonskin and upload it to Microsoft Paint. Then black over the letters and insert my own. I think there is a way to import elements from MS word so you could do word art there and transfer it, but I forget how to do this.

That's how I did mine. It just doesn't seem to have any punch or style. Too plain. I'm thinking up some ideas.

I came up with this. I'm trying to do some graphics, but MS Paint is really limited. I need to get a good drawing program like Corel. Money...grrrr...

I think it looks good. Maybe move the mission to the bottom and put SABRR above it so it's easier to read.

Manny, does this fit your needs?

Now I started to think that since the railroad will be modeled from 1890-1930, the script I used may be too modern. Maybe I need to stick with a more traditional
    Railroad Font, like Roman. No?

I LOVE IT! YES! YES! YOU WIN!

I would like to use that as the logo. Can you send me the artwork for it? What did you use to make that?

Erieroman is the font that I used for the main parts, and Copperplate Gothic bold for the slogan.

Manny, just right click on the thumbnail and select Open in New Window. Right Click on the image that opens and select Save Picture As..

That is as large of a base file as I have but should make good decals.

I used Corel Photopaint version 6. It is an old, but easy to use program.

I used a picture of the Alamo, inserted into Powerpoint to trace the outlines of the silhouette, using a combination of straight lines, circles and ellipses. Then I saved the grouped images as a picture, used the paint brush and eraser features in Photopaint to get just the outline. I copied the resultant image into an editted Frisco coonskin and added the text.

The whole process took about 45 minutes.

Well shoot - saw this in the afternoon and had an idea... guess I was too slow! lol Well I'm putting up my submission anyway. I tried to do a font that may fit the period and did a play on the mission's silhouette as a tunnel portal.

Regarding graphics software, sometimes you can get older "obsolete" versions of premium software on the cheap. I picked up a version of Corel that was 2 versions old for 50 bucks. Sure beats MS Paint, but I can't knock Paint... I've used it for years when nothing else was available.

    Cheers

    Hey Mike,

No you are not to slow. I like that as well. That is neat and interesting. As you know, Frisco changed its logo several times during the time span I am modeling so the SABRR should be no different. That is definitely a winner. What software did you use?

All I can say is that we really have some good talent all around. :)

I think that both should be used.
Keith and Mike - kudos to you.

I agree. Yes they will be used. Keith and Mike will be rewarded. Mike I need to know what program you used and get a copy of the file so I can have the decals made up. Thank you again, both, for the submissions. I'm very pleased!

Thanks - I used CorelDRAW so the graphic can pretty much be exported in any format you'd need. CorelDRAW is a vector art program so the resolution will scale up without artifacting - been using it for years to draw up my own decals. I'll shoot you a PM a little bit later so we can work out which file formats you'll need for your decals.
