Hi everyone, I've joined this forum because I'm trying to learn all I can about the railroad history of Missouri, especially SE of KC, around Clinton and the surrounding areas. My family and I are in the process of moving to the area from Sacramento, California. Although I'm not there yet, I'm ready to put in an offer immediately when we find the place we're looking for. (So when I registered as from Missouri that's not totally accurate yet, but figured I'd be likely to forget to update it later.) We're looking for acreage to be able to live off the land as much as possible, as well as expand our outdoor railroading operations, as I'm currently into G-scale garden railroading and 7-1/2" gauge live steam. I always love learning about full-size railroading history though, and like to collect models to represent the history. In G-scale I've primarily collected SP and UP, but also some Missouri Pacific and Katy. Sadly, I do not yet have any Frisco equipment... obviously that will need to change in the near future!
Hi Ben, You might want to check out Rolla, Missouri if you get to the south central part of the state. We have a 4-8-2 Light Mountain and matching Coach car that has been completely restored on display in Schuman Park, as well as a cupola caboose in the center of town, both in FRISCO colors. Thanks everyone! And thanks for the recommendation George. I will stop by Schuman Park as soon as I can get out that way.
Welcome Ben - my wife and I are lifetime St Louis, Missouri people, but recently (2016) headed south to live in Naples, FL. We get back to StL often, though not so much this year!, and still love StL, MO and all our friends there. Good railroad town as well! I lived in Rolla, MO as well while attending Mo S&T which was very nice, in particular with the SLSF running through town. My degree(s) were in Chemical Engineering (my major) and the Frisco (my minor)! Anyway, welcome to frisco.org. We will get you hooked on some Frisco equipment soon! Let any of us know if you have any questions. Ken
Welcome to the group and welcome to our state. I live in Missour-ee; others live in Missour-uh. That will be your first big decision. Whereabouts will you be settling? Be sure to make good use of the University of Missouri Extension Service. Drop a line if you end up living in or around Columbia. Best Regards,
