Again, for those who are interested in the Illinois Central RR. As I said before - neat railroad.

I have twenty five (25) issues of "The Green Diamond", the excellent publication of the Illinois Central Historical Society. I have Volumes 19 through 48, 25 volumes in all as several are double issues, two volumes each. The earlier issues are out of print. The ICHS is the other ICRR historical society - they have two. A very nice magazine, mostly all b/w but with a little color - steam, diesel, freight, passenger, depots, rr plant, modeling, history, etc - the usual historical society topics. Lots of pics, maps, etc. Always a good read. Individually, these magazines sold for about $4 each on average back in the day (they varied).

I'll send all twenty five of them via Priority Mail to you for $33. All are in excellent, once-read condition, though I did three-hole punch them and kept them in a notebook. They average about 32 pages per issue. Thus, your cost is only about $1.30 per issue, post paid.

And, as a bonus, I'll include a copy of IC's locomotive roster dated June, 1993, listing each locomotive by number.

Several of the articles in these are really interesting. One for example - IC 1146 is discussed, a 4-6-2 Pacific type. It was the only steam locomotive on the IC that was streamlined. Showing that the IC had good taste, they copied the styling used by a certain railroad based in Springfield, MO - the Frisco! IC 1146 looks a whole lot like SLSF 1503 with her streamlined skirting. Unfortunately, IC 1146 had a sad career; she was a bit of a jinxed locomotive - the skirting kept coming off among other things, and ultimately she was wrecked due to high speed while pulling IC's "Kentucky Cardinal". She was scrapped on the spot.

Other interesting topics are the multi-issue story of building IC's bridge at Cairo, Illinois, and IC's banana trains.

If interested, PM me at meteor910. Thanks.

    Ken
