My collection is pretty full, but keep them coming. I will buy if it is something I want. My layout is small, I could fill all my tracks 3 or 4 times. With that said, I am sure you have something I can't live without.

#1 This not true, the interest in Frisco is stronger today...Frisco was not that popular of a RR prior to the merger, I seem to remember there were very few Frisco models for sale + look at the Archive, most photos were taken mid-late 1980...Today we are well represented with top notch models of all types & scales, the guy at Athearn told me SD45 #911 was one of thier all-time best sellers....I also see Frisco slides going for top dollar on eBay, oh no my friend, there is still interest in all things Frisco...

#2 I think the reason they aren't selling is the new Genesis GP7's & Atlas Bicentennial cabooses are suppose to hit the shops any day now + there are a couple of Genesis FP7's on eBay right now...I already have what Ken is selling, now if he had some HW passenger cars I would have snatched those up in a heartbeat...

#3 You are correct although I think is more a matter of price than interest, Lionel is getting hit big time because of this...I don't know how much longer Athearn & others can go on until they price themselves of the market...

    My 2 cents,
    Roger

    1. I'm going through another major life change... again. So it'll be a month or two before I can think about buying something. Also need to consider the run of GP7s coming out some time in october.

    2. I'm not really interested in what was offered this time. I already have 4 of the 5 offered from that FP7 run (didn't get #43, the stand alone A unit)

    3. I think your prices are fair

    4. Pictures are always nice. Are they available upon request?

    5. I think the description was sufficient

    6. I've seen others talk about lack of interest from the younger generations in the hobby. I'll chime in here. There are a few in my generation that are in the hobby, but its very sparse. And the few that are in it mostly collect modern stuff since that's what they see. I saw a theory in another forum that I think is pretty accurate. As more of the community starts fading due to old age, there will be an increase in estates being available, which will drop the price of used equipment even further. As this starts happening more, it'll pull back the demand for new equipment even more, and manufacturers will have to adapt to that.

  4. I wish more of the "no young people model" would attend RPM events. I'm 49 and middle of the road or more for the age of the modelers there. Now, for sure the focus is stronger on modern equipment but that makes sense. Not too many people model things they have never seen. The NMRA might be struggling due to age but RPM are not at all. 35 is probably the average age there. A good number of late teen to early 20 modelers even.

Sorry about the total hi-jack Ken!

My points 1 & 3 were meant to convey a big picture perspective of the hobby. If one has first hand experience with the subject, such as the Frisco in particular or railroading in general, it makes more of a connection than if you read about it or hear other people talk about it. For example, I have fond memories of the one grandparent who was alive when I was a child, and while I know of my other grandparents, they don't conjure up the same intensity of feelings. I agree that we are in a golden age of modeling now. There is more variety and fidelity to the prototype than ever before, but it comes at a price, the models are much more expensive. I didn't mean that there was no interest in the Frisco, but that interest will wane as time goes on.

Thanks guys, greatly appreciate your inputs.

Been pretty busy the last couple of days getting our building ready for hurricane conditions as a precaution, though it looks like we will be OK with no trouble from Dorian. I pity the Bahamas - we were there briefly in January. Dorian is likely going to eat them up. I'm on our condo board, so we have been leading the effort here, and have been quite busy. We are ready now, but it looks like Dorian will let us alone. That is OK! Dorian is up to 150+ mph winds tonight; if it reaches 155 MPH it is a Cat 5 hurricane, the highest rating. When we met up with Irma in 2017, we saw 128 MPH winds on our roof (20 stories) when the eyewall hit and that was more than enough for me! Irma was a Cat 4 when it made landfall on Marco Island, but when it reached Naples had slowed to a high Cat 3.

I'll try to set some time up tomorrow night and post a few more items. I have a nice pile here. (The FP7A and the 50ft Kadee box car are still available).

    Steve -
I know you are waiting for my three Genny GP7's. Don't hold your breath! Ha!

I am delighted we are going to get those GP7's - been wanting that for years ever since Genesis came on the scene. Now, why can't we get them to do a proper Genesis F7A, F7B and F9B in b/y? A no-brainer since they already have the body shells, and the proper fonts for the units. Also the FP7 in b/y.

I know there is some hope for these, but have not seen anything concrete yet.

I don't know exactly when, but Athearn made a set of Frisco Passenger cars. They were smaller than the con-cor, riverossi cars. If anyone has those and wants to part with them, I might buy. I think their was three, but I could be wrong.

  11. Well anything from any of these manufacturers that is made in China is going to cost more with the new trade tariff on certain goods such as toys from China beginning December 15th. May have an impact on people buying in the future depending on what the prices rise to for the consumers. May keep people away from new model railroad purchases from Athearn, Atlas and many others or make them look towards another hobby interest. Prices are almost stifiling for many as they are now versus what they will become with the 15% tariff in effect. Most model railroad stuff is made in China now unfortunately.

Yup. Most everything hobby or otherwise is made there. Not gonna get into a political thing here. Just another "thing" we all gotta deal with, till we dont.

  14. Broadway Limited may be off limits to me post December 15th. Pity, they have some really nice locomotives, steam and diesel, that are pricier than most as is. I have one Katy 4-6-2 from them and may be the only new BL i will ever have.

I have some Broadway limited products. I think the rolling thunder, was a mistake. I don't have it, but I am sure it adds to the cost, for only a few engines that can use it. For me, cost is an issue, I will buy less, what I want, but not as many. Most likely this extra tax, will go away, but I doubt prices will roll back. Ha Ha, it almost never does.

  17. Well i haven't had any issues with the Katy Pacific, shouldnt for what i paid for it but really wanted a Katy Pacific and its almost spot on to its prototype. As for future BLs that remains to be seen if any are in the cards or not along with anything else come Dec. 15th. The 4 Genesis Frisco Fs i committed to may be the last new units for a while. The ATSF alligators from BL in zebra stripe and or blue/yellow pinstripe were what i was eyeballing next but thats up in the air at this point. I like to obtain units of original railroads that operated thru Oklahoma City primarily but also within the state of Oklahoma before their dissapearance via mergers of the many that once operated within thestate. So that limits main locomotives primarily to ATSF/CRI&P/MKT/FRISCO and OCAA for OKC. Some MP/KCS/MV/QA&P the SP and SSW, aka Cotton Belt which briefly touched via the far reaches of the Oklahoma panhandle/QA&P (FRISCO) and the NEO (FRISCO) for Oklahoma proper. But i have foreign power not seen usually in Oklahoma and that possibly could have has passed thru at some point in time theorectically. Have added the UP as they have a presence here since the demise of "The Rock" track they began to operate and the merger of the MKT via the MP/UP and later the acquisition of the SP/SSW by the UP, which allows mean to sneak in SP and WP I grew up with. I have the BN represented for historical purposes regarding ex Frisco in Oklahoma but only 2 BN (GP30/GP9) at present and 1 cab sublettered BNSF ex ATSF GP60 unit that was given me by a now deceased friend. I personally really cant abide nor care for the ugly schemes of the BNSF so wont even commit to any of those, especially any of the newer ATSF red/silver warbonnet scheme units that somehow managed to have had large red BNSF lettering emblazoned upon. Ryhme and reason being primarily due BNSF was that last to really show up in Oklahoma after the ATSF/BN merger therfore have made the cutoff prior to the advent of the BNSF but making an exception for the sublettered GP60 in honor and memory of my friend.

Ken, all of your locomotives and railcars are imported from Naples FL and your tariff is shipping cost. LOL

FYI - we are getting some of those spin-off squalls from hurricane Dorian. Even clear across the state, we got about five of the squalls today. They spin off the hurricane, which rotates counterclockwise. They spinoff Dorian and run across the state, then come down the west coast, north to south. As they pass us, they rain like the dickens for about 15 minutes, then move on and the sun comes back out. Crazy!

Here are a few more items for sale for your consideration. These are all low cost items.

FYI, we will be leaving in the middle of next week for another cruise ..... hurricanes permitting! Given that, if you want any of the items, we will need to get the specifics and payments set up so I can get the items in the mail to you no later than a week from today.

Metal Kadee wheels, Cal-Scale brake hoses, Kadee couplers all included. In original box. Price - $12, plus shipping. (SOLD)

o Accurail #4709, HO stock car, SLSF47798. A 40-ft stock car, single door, outside braced, boxcar red color, "Frisco Lines" coonskin. Outstanding looking car, completely assembled from kit. Metal Kadee wheels, Cal-Scale brake hoses, Kadee couplers all included. In original box. Price - $15, plus shipping.

o Accurail #4615, HO USRA double sheathed boxcar, SLSF 129694. A 40-ft boxcar, single door, double sheathed, boxcar red color, "Frisco Lines" coonskin. Outstanding looking car, completely assembled from kit. Metal Kadee wheels, Cal-Scale brake hoses, Kadee couplers all included. In original box. Frisco had more of these cars than any other railroad. Price - $14, plus shipping. (SOLD)

o Athearn HO heavyweight observation car, unbuilt kit. Decorated for Santa Fe, pullman green, Dulux lettering and numbers. My plan was to make it into a Frisco business car. Complete kit. Rear platform has a nice railing included. Included is a set of Walthers #933-721 interiors for an Athearn coach, mostly seats. This is the observation car that went with the Athearn heavyweight coach, RPO, baggage car, Pullman car, dining car set. Cost of car kit was $11.75; cost of interior set was $5.98. Nice looking heavyweight. Price $17.50, plus shipping.

o Kadee HO unopened, mint Apex running board set, two running boards, 40 ft length, oxide red color. Exquisite castings. Cost was $3.95. Price is $3.00. Given the low cost, I'd suggest this be included along with some other purchase. I've replaced a number of thick running boards with these, and they look great. (SOLD)

o American Limited #5001 HO, an unopened kit, Wigwag grade crossing signals. These are all plastic, do not operate, but look great. In original, unopened package. Cost was $5.00. Price is $4.00. Again, given the low cost, I'd suggest including these with some other purchase. (SOLD)

More to follow when we get back from the cruise. Payment by PayPal, friends & family.
