    Folks-
The good news is that my son and I will very soon start construction on a 1:87 layout in the garage. Can't remember who it was - Mike Condren perhaps? - that suggested parking one car outside and using the room a few years back. That is what we are finally going to do.

On the down side, the Caruthersville Branch will have to wait. Grandpa is passing on his stock of AT&SF locomotives and rolling stock to my son. My son is surprisingly savvy for a kid of his age - he advises he wants a layout that includes both lines side-by-side.

We've tossed around a very generic/prototype freelanced representation of the KC area and he's amenable to any "flatland" (KS or OK) locale.

Anyone have any thoughts? We're even going to be in Overland Park this weekend visiting friends, so if there are any areas we should see or photograph for inspiration, it's feasible.

I'm open, too, to the more rural reaches.

To his credit, he has sketched a sophisticated starting track plan: point-to-point with staging at each end! Now my job is to make it fit.

Ideas are welcome. Track plans will follow.

    Best Regards,
