    Texas Western Model Railroad Club

The Texas Western moved from its old location to a new larger location a couple of years ago. The new layout represents the Fort Worth area with all seven railroads that crossed Tower 55. That means the Frisco will be represented with the Eighth Street yard, freight house, and customers. Several passenger trains including the Texas Special, the Black Gold, and the Texas Flash will make their runs on the layout. The modeled era is 1945-1962.

The club meets Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings at 6808 Forest Hill Drive, Fort Worth, Texas. The club is about four blocks south of I-20 on Forest Hill Drive.

The NEONS is a N-Track modular club based in the Challenger N Scale Hobby Shop in southern Tulsa at 8753 S. Lewis. Meetings start on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm

They have a small layout in the store and about 50 modules that are set-up for train shows. N-Track uses three main tracks on each module which is 2 to 6 foot long and 2 foot wide. Most of their modules are based on areas around Tulsa and the website

Edit: Added time and frequency of club meetings.

Mexico, Texas and Western - Mexico, MO

Prior to parenthood and home ownership, my wife and I used to make weekly trips to Mexico, MO for dinner with her parents, along with laundry and the weekly Tuesday meeting of the "Mexico Train Works" club. The layout has moved and rebuilt since I was a member.

Even though I'm just now getting around to a "home layout," I am a believer that finding and joining a club is invaluable for both the skills learned and for the knowledge shared. And, with two busy mainlines a block or two away from the club's old location, hearing of an incoming freight on the club scanner was usually sufficient to adjourn to the old C&A depot.

    Best Regards,
