Our family has been in the hardwood business since the the early 1900's. I have a photograph of my grandfather and great-grandfather seated on a gondola car loaded with White Oak timbers. The photograph is dated 1918. We believe these timbers were cut for the U.S. Navy. The markings on the car are "S.T.L. & S.F." and "67214" and "10 17". Is there any way to somehow determine how these cars were used then and their probably destinations? Please email me at graftoncook@suntreehardwoods.com
