    E8A SLSF 2020 - Nathan M5 Air Horn

There is a nice picture of Racehorse E8 SLSF 2020 in her later years on eBay.

    See listing 400187051037

Do I see a Nathan M5 up top as the forward facing horn, with a big Leslie as the rear facing horn?

If so, "Big Red" really made some noise when the engineer pulled the cord.

I believe the location is at the Lindenwood service tracks.

I think this is, or is similar to, a Mike Condren picture.

Edit 2/23/2024: The former e-bay listing link no longer functions. Once an e-bay item sells or the lister removes it from auction site, the link no longer works and is no longer accessable.

    E8A - SLSF 2020 "Big Red" - Mis-lettered

From Richard Crabtree on Frisco Rails Across Missouri:

You had one job - one job - remember the name of the company you work for. Here we see Frisco SLSF 2020 Big Red, EMD E8A built in 1950, not Friso. They at least the spelled Big Red right.

I wonder if the guy in the paint shop was let go?

    Karl Brand:

They also messed up Big Red.

What is interesting is this photograph from the Frisco Archive that shows the messed up Big Red, but the railroad name is good.

    http://frisco.org/mainline/wp-conte...d-Missouri-in-April-1966-Stanley-McCarthy.jpg

Looking at the image in post #1, it looks like someone painted the panel just behind the ladder to get rid of the O and completed the C to make an O.

Then it was fixed in the archive photo.

Note the replacement number boards in the archive photo as well.
