    Another eBay victory!

I've also posted a couple of updates on the TrainBoard Frisco N Scale Group in the last week or so.

The attachment has latest version of manufactured releases. A new format has been set by equipment type and manufacturer. Hopefully this will make searching for specific equipment easier.

There are several new releases scheduled this year. Two items added to the list are Frisco related [1] E-7 by Overland with MKT road number for Texas Special and has both MKT/FRISCO emblems on it's side. It sold on ebay just over $520. WELL over my price range! [2] A undec GP-40 was also on ebay, so I added it for the modelers who would like to paint and decal. It is not counted towards total releases. Other undec models will be added as I find them.

The real highlight is Atlas black/yellow GP-7s due in September, Deluxe hoppers in the first quarter of the year and Trainworx boxcars also due in the first quarter.

Please give me feedback on how to improve this list. Your ideas are Greatly Appreciated.

I'm not an N-Scaler but did notice two items than to me seemed very interesting but not exactly "Frisco" per se.

    (1) Central Valley is producig their famous 150' Pratt Truss Bridge kit in N scale. This one will be beautiful when assembled but only for those with very nimble fingers.

    (Assembly Detail)

    (2) BLMA is producing 100 ton and 70 ton ASF trucks which have to me a level of detail that is amazing for N Scale

    Micro-Trains: Frisco Road Number SL-SF 15097

This 40’ standard box car with plug door and no roofwalk is painted orange with black and white logo and black lettering. The car was rebuilt in October 1967 and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Between August and October 1967, the Frisco leased 100 rebuilt boxcars from the Chicago Freight Car Co. and numbered them into the 15000-15099 series. During the 1960s, the Frisco used colors to designate a specific usage or equipment; the red-orange paint applied to this series signified assignment to Kellogg.

The March 2010 issue of Model Railroader on page 82 shows a new release of Frisco 35ft, 55 ton, 2 bay hopper with coal load. Time era 1930s to 1960s. Excellent review on quality was given. Three road numbers, not listed, have purchase price of $16.95 msrp for one car and/or a three pack for $50.85 msrp. There is no release date given and I was not able to find them on the Atlas website or any other source. Hope their listing was not a typo! If anyone has more info please post.

The next Manufactured N Scale Releases will include the above data. Sould be posted no later than April 1st. List only needs two more items to reach 300!!!

Does anyone have a Frisco SW1500 by Arnold or Rivarossi released in late 1960s - early 1970s? I have seen one about 15 years ago but do not know if it was custom or factory.

    Joe,

Atlas posted new N Scale items yesterday. I don't see anything Frisco though. :(

I'm still waiting for Atlas to post ordering information for the Frisco GP7s, which are mentioned in the Atlas Winter 2010 catalog

    http://download.atlasrr.com/Catalog/Winter2010/1-10.pdf

The GP7s are also mentioned in the latest N-scale Railroading (or was it N-scale... I'll need to check when I get home tonight).

Atlas has a note about a change of manufacturer in China causing a slowdown, so this could be what is delaying some information on the website.

I'm still looking/waiting for information on the new products as well, but until then, I have reached 209 N Scae Frisco items (new roster uploaded) and have two more eBay pruchases, which will bring me to 211 when they arrive!

Charlie--Have you seen the Wheels Of Time Frisco baggage cars? There not exactly prototype correct (The manufacturer declares that on the box), but they're pretty close. They can be re-detailed to give more of the Frisco "look." They're 60' with a turtleback roof. Just a little short for any of the Frisco baggage cars with that roof.

Are you referring to road numbers #170 and #171? If so, I have those. If not, enlighten me!

These cars are #362 and #363. They're a little short to represent the Frisco baggage cars with turtleback roofs. They're really a "Harriman" car (UP, SP, IC etc.), but widening one door on each side and a little weathering, would probably give it more of the Frisco "look."

    Tom

PS: What are the cars you mention? What manufacturer?

    Charlie and Tom,

I checked the Manufactured Releases chart and it shows the Wheels of Time baggage cars with road #362, 363 having stock #170, 171.

If there are new road numbers please let me know, we only need two more items to reach 300 on the Manufactured N Scale Releases.

I see that Charlie was just quoting the stock numbers--They're the same cars! Just two released.

Oh, okay, I put the stock numbers instead of the road numbers on my roster then. I will fix that ASAP!

    Hi,

Time for the latest posting of Manufactured N Scale Releases. Just released this month is a MicroTrains 40ft boxcar road #15097, stock #074-00-090. Several other models are due in the next quarter and two Atlas GP-7s in September. Three Atlas hoppers were in the March issue of Model Railroader on page 82, the only problem is they do not show on their website. I also added some undecorated models that could be painted and decaled, but are not counted toward total releases count. Please post if you have any information that can improve Manufactured Releases list.

    Hi,

Ebay has an Atlas autorack for bid ending April 11, 22:06:43 PDT. It is item number 180490132165 posted by emperor1000 (1078 100%) and list a $5.00 shipping charge from Minnesota. These only show up every once in a while, one of three autoracks manufactured for N. It apears to have one truck/coupler lose in case. The attached photo was posted with add.

The Con-Cor Texas Special of the 1980's had incorrectly lettered E-8's with black trucks (They had "The Texas Special" neon script and silver star and plain, not fluted silver sides). The engines were puzzling, because Con-Cor, at the time, offered (Old Atlas/Rivarossi) E-7's! Con-Cor also had PA's at the time (Which would have been OK for the M-K-T)?? The engines were the original Atlas/Rivarossi shells with the swiveling pilots, but had somewhat better mechanisms than the older Atlas motors. The cars like the engines were fairly well painted also with black trucks, and also wrong.
    Each six car set had:
--One Atlas baggage-dorm (Instead of an RPO).
    --Three Atlas coaches
    --One Con-Cor DOME.
--One Con-Cor dome-observation with a non-dome roof applied. It was a typical model manufacturing "fantasy" effort. We criticize the model manufacturers (Kato, Walthers, Intermountain etc.) for not doing proper reserch, but they were always outdone by Con-Cor who leads the field in NON-research!
I improved my sets somewhat (I have two pre-owned sets) by painting all the trucks silver, replacing the dome car roof and adding Plano grilles to the engines.
