    Tis progress nonetheless. ;-)

I still think you're way ahead of most of us, Jim. I reckoned if I didn't set any goals I'd accomplish absolutely nothing. They're also a good, global motivator: while not a stated goal, I've nearly finished my Olathe depot.

After further consideration, I'mpretty sure I'm going to take out the "studio" walls and open up the space. That will make more unimpeded room for the layout.

Work has been delayed while I dealt with wiring up an ATC type fuse panel in my '68 F100 and investigated a water leak in the master bathroom of the new place (nothing serious, but I do have some tile to replace).

Rolling stock acquisitions have continued with purchases from Ken Wulfert and a couple from the Collinsville or Edwardsville (I forget which) show.

Have to admit that I was way short on my goals for the year. It's most laughable that I once thought that as my kids got older, they'd need less time and attention, therefore allowing more time for modeling. That being said, I wouldn't trade marching band events, weekend soccer trips and the like.

The summary of goals on the Northern Division, Boone County Edition:
    • Run a formal Operating Session in "Olathe" by end of the first quarter, with 3 total sessions by end of year.
Missed. I have started making plans and notes in my model RR notebook. I also needed to lay a north-of-Olathe visible staging lead, which is now done. I have verbal agreements from both kids to participate in the sea trials, and hope to do so soon.
    • Finish two outstanding rolling stock projects.
Missed. I did some work but really need to simply focus on finishing one-at-a-time.
    • Complete basic ground cover scenery - have completed approximately 75% thus far.
DONE. The basic ground cover is down; I still need to add weeds and taller growth here and there. My little corner of Johnson County is also very bare of trees; it looks more like the areas out around Goodland.
    • Finish adding telegraph line poles to SL-SF Northern Division.
Almost Done. All poles are up; I lack crossarms on the two northernmost poles. There is now a mile marker board on the pole at MP 21.
    • Begin construction on Wallingford Grain Co and Champlin Oil Depot in Olathe.
Barely begun. If layout out the footprint and sketches of the grain mill count, then there's some progress. I also have the bulk fuel tanks for Champlin Oil.
    • Fix the "dead spot" that keeps reoccurring at the crossover just "north" of MP 21.
DONE! Turns out that there just needed to be a little more elbow grease in the track cleaning at this location

The division superintendent is still reviewing last year's final results before going public with 2017 goals.

    Best Regards,

My current "layout" in Naples is 18" long - two sections of nickel-silver snap track. Wow huh! It has a VO-1000, a box car, and a Walthers "Piker" on it. I think I posted a pic of it a few weeks ago.

I have no plans for a layout - no room for it, but I certainly will do something better than that this year!
