A question to frisco.org members ..... I'm just curious, if our beloved Frisco had never existed (God forbid!), what other railroad(s) would have attracted your #1 modeling and/or railfan interest? Just to keep it simple, name no more than three choices. In my case: #1 - GM&O and/or Rock Island #2 - PRR #3 - MP All of them would have a little TRRA included, as does my Frisco stuff now. Again, I'm just curious. I'm not trying to start a popularity poll. Ken
Since my love was for trains first, specific companies second, I would probably have to go with the ones I grew up around, even though they were competitors of the Frisco. No particular order, #1 Missouri and North Arkansas/Arkansas and Ozarks (although, without the Frisco it likely wouldn't exist) #2 Missouri Pacific #3 Kansas City Southern
MKT (Beacuse they were a Texas Special partner) MP (Because they were the "other" RR in Springfield) KCS (Because we went down to the fish hatchery and park in Neosho and a KCS freight went by with FM "Erie Built" diesels and a bay-window caboose, and I'd never seen either and I couldn't believe my eyes!) Tom G.
Assuming that Frisco's predecessors existed: #1 - Kansas City, Fort Scott & Memphis #2 - Ozark Southern #3 - Missouri Southern (3' gauge from Leeper to Ellington, MO)
I would be willing to bet that yardmaster and Tim Cannon would be with me on, but not necessarily in the same order: 1) Missouri Pacific, operated in Cape Girardeau, Scott City and just north of Chaffee, and in Southern Missouri 2) St Louis Southwestern (Cottonbelt), passed through Scott City and just north of Chaffee then west 3) Illinois Central, operated in Southern Illinois
1. Mopac (other railroad in Lamar) 2. MKT (another railroad in the area) 3. ATSF (operations in this area (SW MO, SE KS) Ethan
1.Mopac 2.Fort Smith Light & Traction 3.Rock Island 4.Missouri North & Arkansas 5.Arkansas & Missouri
Oh, Your on a roll tonight, Manny! That's funny..... Us Arkansas Bozs has five fingers, or five toes - Take your pick ..... LOL
