Is there a Frisco O Scale caboose out there?

    Howdy folks,

Has anyone investigated kitbashing an O scale steam era caboose? The Mullet River Model Works has some beautiful wood caboose kits, but I didn't see one that was close enough to kitbash to Frisco.

    Mike,

Perhaps contacting Glenn Guerra, owner of Mullet River Model Works, with a proposal for him to produce a steam era Frisco caboose will bring a positive reply and an interest to add same to his line of excellent models. He currently offers cabooses in HO and O scale for several roads and the addition of a Frisco caboose might prove positive enough for him to include it in his product line. He also catalogs models of box cars, gondolas and flat cars in O scale.

If approached with the Frisco project he will want to know which class would be considered of course. Since he makes models in HO, O and S, he might go so far as to offer the caboose in all three scales. This would certainly offer him great sales potential from the Frisco Folks on this site thus insuring that the models will sell and not remain in his inventory. It seems that a poll should be taken in regards to which class of steam era Frisco caboose should be considered for him to undertake. No doubt there are more HO modelers than O and S scalers but he might just consider manufacturing the models in all three scales if approached directly from Frisco.org.

It would be nice to see a Frisco caboose as his first S scale offering in the rolling stock category plus the addition of an O scale model included in his product line as well!

I could use two O scale cabooses myself. Friend Eddie Chambers would be the guy to build them for me. He could keep one for doing the work for both of us. Though he modeled the Katy over the years he has also modeled the Frisco and if he was to return to model railroading told me he would like to model Sherman, Texas.

Which Frisco caboose do you have in mind to consider for Mullet River to produce? When I moved to Germany in 1976 I left most of my stuff with a guy in Dallas and never got it back. My notes were in this mess of stuff so I don't have any info on the wood crummys that the Frisco had assigned in the Ft. Worth area. I would like to know which ones were assigned to the Irving switcher in the early 70s. They still used kerosene markers and that really gave them their charm at night under a big fat Texas full moon working!
