Looks like IM is offering an SD 38-2 in N scale. http://www.intermountain-railway.com/currentflyers.html
I noticed that the numbers of the SD38-2 locomotives is 296, 297, 298 and 299. So I think that the dynamic brakes will be on 296 and 297. No dynamic brakes will be on 298 and 299. To verify this go to the Frisco Archives and search SD38-2. The photos definitely show the difference... http://frisco.org/mainline/?s=sd38-2 Of course that is the way it should be but will see what Intermountain does about dynamic brakes. They show them on their advertisement. Edit: Added reference to Frisco Archives. Joe
That is correct, and that is what I asked Intermountain about. The good news is that so long as there are two with dynamic brakes and two without, if intermountain screws up the numbers, then fixing that just requires swapping cabs and rear number boards (does anyone know, did the SD38s have rear number boards?) I'm still debating how many of these I'm going to order. They really are out of era (I theoretically model the early 1970s) and out of local (I model the Springfield area) so I don't know that I can justify buying more than one, if any... Paul
