Ok, so Intermountain made an update about the Mandarin orange and white Frisco F7As and F7Bs in N-scale.

First, the bad news, Intermountain canceled the B units. They don’t even appear on the site any longer. They did this to a few other roads as well.

Second, Intermountain put in a new reservation deadline date of July 31st for the F7As. I have mine reserved already, though I am going to send an e-mail to confirm it is still on record.

Maybe we will finally see these units, which were first announced in 2015, in the next 12 months.

So in Intermountain’s latest update to the advanced reservation page, as of 11/21/22, the F7Bs have been added back to the page and both the F7As and F7Bs are listed as queued for production.

Hopefully this means we will see them some day.

I talked to Intermountain at the National Train show today.

The Mandarin orange and white N scale Frisco units are just about ready to leave the factory.

Well, after years of waiting, my Orange and White F units finally arrived while I was away for Christmas.

I am impressed that the coonskin logos on the A units are, as per the prototypes, not all in the same spot on the nose.

Also, some of the grills are painted and some are left in stainless. This is also a prototypical detail.

Interestingly, these new sound equipped F units from Intermountain have what I think is a first for N-scale F-units from the factory, working backup lights on the B ends. Granted, they are next to the door, which isn’t the correct position for any Frisco cab units I have ever seen, but having them in place is still cool.

See previous discussion on the backup lights.
