A few years back I built a 10' x 1'-8" switching layout "themed" on Carl Junction, MO and John Allen's Timesaver concept. The Girard Branch is in the foreground, and the gate protects the Carthage Sub. The agent has gone home for the day, so the order board is set to green.

I'm with Bob. I am the biggest fan of small layouts and I'm ready to see some more layout photos(past or present or in progress) being posted. I guess I need to start another module for my Zalma Branch as a challenge for you armchair modelers out there. Just kiddin', this time of year is pretty busy for most of us. Karl, how 'bout a full length view, that's just a tease shot.

Thanks for the interest; I'll see what I can locate. I sent most of the pictures to Doug, who published them with a brief article in one of the FMIG Lines issues.

I found another snap that didn't turn-out too badly. Back in the ol' film days, it took a lot of experimention to get the proper exposure and depth of field. I love the digital world (electrons and pixels are much cheaper than film).

Here we see Train 121, the Ft Scott -Joplin Girard Branch local passenger train, calling on Carl Junction.

Nice pic Karl, and very nice modeling.
I really like the weathering "streaks" from the stacks on the roof.
    Nice touch.

Nice work, Karl...another topic for another thread, but what was your starting point for the bull moose?

    Best Regards,

    Thanks, Chris and Sherrel.

The depot is an AHM structure; the most Frisco-looking depot kit that I could find. It was to be a place holder until I could build something closer to the real deal. The Bullmoose is an Oriental brass import with a few extras....the exhaust stacks were changed, and different ventilators were added to the roof.

Thanks for the info, Karl. Ben has a Spectrum ATSF warbonnet motor car...I'd love to try kitbashing it into one of the bullmooses with the operator "growth" off the side, similar to the pictures I've seen from Poplar Bluff. Alas, I think it's probably destined for the Chanute Local or another Santa Fe run on our KC Terminal.

    Best Regards,

As are many these days, I am "working" from home, and while organizing items from the stack stuff, I found the ETT that I created for my old Carl Jct switching layout. It's old school, and very low-tech to be sure.

I spent many pleasurable hours studying that switching layout track plan. Thanks again, Karl.
