History enthusiast in Valley Park, Missouri

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Doug Schneider, Mar 26, 2016.

  1. I am exploring the history of the town where I live: Valley Park, Missouri. Valley Park had a station on the Frisco. I would like to find out more about our neighboring Frisco stops: Ranken, Missouri, and Key's Summit, Missouri.

I am also a Route 66 enthusiast, and an architectural tourguide for downtown St. Louis.

Welcome Doug! You will want to navigate through the Forums menu to Divisions > Eastern Division > Rolla Subdivision and search around in that area. The Rolla Subdivision was Frisco's designation for their rail line through Valley Park.

    Welcome to Frisco.org!
Good luck in your quest for Valley Park historical items. Those related to the Frisco rate a thread of their own (if there is not one already). There are a couple postings here about the station in Valley Park as well as some incidents. A search will reveal those and hopefully lead you to some other historical items.
Here are some other resources to consider. Nearby Kirkwood has its Kirkwood Historical Society; so does Webster Groves. In addition, you may meet someone at the Museum of Transport with knowledge about Valley Park.

One of my favorite classes at Southeast Mo. State involved a self-guided architectural tour of St. Louis, including taking our own photos for use in a paper. Wish I'd had both a guide and a digital camera - I was sweating quite a few of the shots when I only had 24 exposures on my roll of film.

At any rate, I think you'll find a wealth of information and - when your own searches fall short - a lot of folks willing to help out. Welcome aboard,

    Best Regards,
