Hi folks! I live in Tallahassee but am originally from Missouri. I'm planning to model a small HO diorama featuring my grandparents' farm near Macomb, MO. The Frisco line ran adjacent to their property so I'm planning to include it in the scene and came here to learn a bit about what locomotives, rolling stock, and other details might have been seen on that line.

If any of you are familiar with the 1947 wreck of the Kansas City - Florida Special near Macomb, that was right by my grandparents' farm. I also had a great uncle who worked in the Springfield shops sometime around the mid-20th century.

Looking forward to learning more about the Frisco here.

Welcome to the Frisco website Jon!!! You came to the right place to find information for your layout. What scale do you have?

Thanks! I'm modeling HO scale. The era will be late 30s/early 40s. Trying to find out what steam locomotives Frisco might have used for local freights on that line (Springfield-Memphis) around that time. I like the looks of the Ten Wheelers but haven't found any Frisco models. I may have to go with the Bachmann Mikado.

Hi Jon - welcome to frisco.org. This is a neat group.

Florida resident here as well - we recently moved to Naples from our long-time home in St Louis. Much farther from the Frisco, but it's warmer!

I've enjoyed discovering the still remaining signs of both the ACL's and SAL's lines into Naples. The original SAL (later ACL) depot still stands and has been converted into a nice rail museum along with some ACL and SAL equipment on display outside.

Hi Ken, I actually was modeling Seaboard/L&N in north Florida on a previous layout several years ago (before the kids came along, somehow didn't have time after that).

Jon, be sure to take photos of your layout as you build it, we love layout photos.

    Jon, Welcome Aboard!

There are plenty of Bachmann Spectrum Frisco 2-10-0 locomotives out there. Be sure to check on ebay. Also be sure to check the Operations sub-forum for Timetables, and the Divisions sub-forum for more info about what you are looking for.

Welcome to the group, John - oh, to have lived on a farm or any lot adjacent to the Frisco back in those days.

    Best Regards,
