I guess it's time I let everyone know a little about me. I was born in KCKS and we moved to collins mo in 1966 railroad has been in my blood longer than I can remember. My grandfather was a boiler maker with the Mop in Sedaila and Trenton Mo then moved to Aromerdale Ks before retiring. I have plans to build a model someday as soon as the right of way can be aquired. but for now I have to stay with the temp layout at Christmas time in O gauge with a little HO and N thrown in. they make great amusement park rides next to the O gauge equipment. besides modeling I research railroad history in fact a recient search is how I found this site. I have been digging up anything about the KCC&S KCO&S the leaky roof and the blair line and how it all ties into the Frisco. This looks like a great message board and I will enjoy surfing the threads.

    A great day to Everyone
    Darren :)

    Darren:
Welcome to the group, I am sure you will learn a lot from.
We have something in common. My Grandfather was also a Boilermaker for the Missouri Pacific. He was stationed in Cotter Arkansas, Nevada Missouri and Osawatomie Kansas. He retired in the early sixties and moved back to Nevada where he lived out the remainder of his life. He started his railroad career as a call boy for the KCS in Pittsburg Ks. I have very fond memories of him taking me to watch Trains. He lived about a block north of the Katy in Nevada and when he would catch me going down there to watch them he would come after me in his car and take me to watch what he called a "real railroad" his beloved MOP.
Again welcome to the group and have fun on here.

    Hi Bob

Thanks for the warm welcome the I never got to know my grandfather as he passed away right after I was born, but my uncle also work for the railroad in St. Louis he was a engineer for the Wabash and I have spent many hours with him. He retired early with a buy out at the age of 55 I think. that was after the NS took over the Wabash.

WElcome Aboard Darren! WE have something in common. My Great Great Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Grandfather, Uncle, 2 Great Uncles and myself all worked for the railroad. So railroading has been in my blood for many years as well. I hope you have a wonderful time here and find everything you hope to, and I am sure you have some railroad information of your own or atleast fond memories! Great to have you!

    HI Will

Sounds like railroad runs in your blood alright, I have never worked quote for a railroad it's self but have worked on a lot of railroad equipment. I worked for Trinity North American Railcar in Springfield Mo. in what was the old Frisco steam shop until 1-26-2009 when they closed the shop down and lost their lease with BNSF I enjoyed the work and it was a learning experience but I will have to move on now.

Thank you for the warm welcome I am already enjoying this site
