Hello from Arizona

  1. Hello. My name is Rich. I am a long time railfan and model railroader. I grew up in southern Idaho in a Union Pacific railroad town and my father worked for the Union Pacific. I joined the Air Force and was twice assigned to Vance AFB in Enid, Oklahoma. First a student pilot and later as an instructor pilot. It was in Enid that I was first introduced to the Frisco and I have been a Frisco fan ever since. In particular I am a fan of steam locomotives and of course Frisco 1519 which has been in Enid for many years is a favorite. Now retired, I am looking forward to learning more about the Frisco on this forum.

Welcome to the Frisco website Rich!!! You came to the right website for information about the Frisco. There are a lot of knowledge here with history and modeling. Feel free to look around and if you have any questions just ask or want to talk about your experiences please post. Do you have a layout and if so we would love to see photos? I'm like you, steam locomotives are my favorite.

Hey Rich; welcome to frisco.org. This is a great group of people who are big time Frisco fans, and a great website!
I am from St Louis, as is my wife, but in 2016 we moved to Florida. Still get back to StL often, though. Can't stay away from friends and the great Italian restaurants!
Where in southern Idaho are you from? I was responsible for a large chemical plant in SE Idaho - Soda Springs, for several years. Ever been there? It gave me a chance to get to know Idaho - love the area and have many friends there, Caribou County. We shipped our product in t/c's on the UP, received raw material by rail and truck. UP is a heck of a railroad! (Although at times they drove us crazy)
Again - welcome to frisco.org. SLSF 1519 is a good looking engine, never have seen her in person, but had the pleasure of hanging around 1522 in St Louis and also 1501 in Rolla, Mo, where I spent my undergraduate days. The Frisco 1500's were terrific!

Hi Rich. Just a bit North of you in Grand Junction CO. Glad to have you, I think you will see a friendly group of folks. And no where else will you find more knowledge about the Frisco, or any of it's predecessor RR's.
