Good evening (or morning or afternoon, depending on when you have found this thread).

Still pretty new around here, but I'm sure you can imagine my surprise when I found there was a Frisco "Virtual Scale" category. I regularly mess around with Trainz, and have started a freelanced Frisco route that will be loosely based on the actual Frisco lines, primarily in/around northeast Oklahoma.

At least in Trainz 12 (I know, I'm behind. We'll be upgrading computers soon), Frisco assets are still fairly scarce. So, I decided to take it upon myself to add some new stuff in game. This is my very first model I have ever made, and I just started Wednesday night with very, very little experience at all (a couple Youtube videos I watched a while back) and some depot diagrams.

We are still a ways away from making any steam locomotives, and I certainly am not expecting a call/email from Pixar Studios about a job anytime soon, but I'm fairly proud of this one.

Now, to learn how to texture.

But from me to my fellow V-Scalers, I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else is up to, and to see the cool screenshots!

What is your application for mesh construction?

@WindsorSpring, if you are meaning the program I am using, I am using Blender. If you are speaking on how I have constructed the building itself in the application, it was done by using and adjusting many, many, many cube meshes.

I guessed Blender from the photos in your posting. Yes, it is "using and adjusting many, many, many cube meshes!" I still have 2.66, though it is upgraded to 64-bit since I got the new rig. It takes a long time to construct these 3D models. I am still using TS12 and exporting my very few Blender projects to it. I tried one to TANE and had a texture problem so it is back to the console for that one.

I might be sending you a PM very soon in regards to exporting, as that is where I'm stuck at. The one N3V wiki tutorial I found on Google suggests I need a certain exporter that isn't available online, but only by people on the Trainz forum(?), and only good for 2.79 and older (I stupidly made this in 2.91, so if so, looks like all that work only to have to be redone). In any case, that I have questions on lol. But, I figured after more than a few hours and a tad bit of frustration, I would be done for the evening.

In any case, here it is. Maybe one or two more tweeks are needed, but other than that, it is done. I'm sure many can do better, but for my very first time with 0 experience as far as 3D modeling at all goes, I'm pretty proud of it.

And I must say, it is actually quite a blast. Here's to hoping to doing more buildings and getting more practice. Maybe years from now I can maybe think about tackling a 2-8-0 :)
