I would like to introduce myself to the group. My name is David Reese and I am a retired Railroader. I worked for the WWIB and spent 26 years at the KCS. I am also a Model Railroader. When my son went to work for the BNSF as a conductor and later was trained to be an engineer I became interested in modeling the lines that were merged to become the BN. This of course included the Frisco. I recently acquired a HO scale model of a Frisco 2-10-0 and have added a TCS Wow Steam Sound Decoder to this locomotive. There are at least 60 whistles available but none of them are from a Frisco locomotive so I am trying to research what steam whistle this particular locomotive had. I thought there might be something on this site in this regards, plus there appears to be quite a bit of interesting historical information on the Frisco here. That is why I joined.
David, Welcome Aboard! Take time to look around here. There is a lot of very useful information. The Frisco was enamored with Hancock Steamboat whistles; they had a nice deep throaty sound.
