Hello, I just signed up. My wife and I own a second home in Harrisonville Mo where she grew up. I am intrigued by the multiple abandoned rail crossings over Commercial street in H-ville and by the abandoned roadbed along I-49 from Harrisonville north toward Kansas City. We have located a wooden trestle along I-49 and I have done some preliminary exploration of the abandoned roadbeds (there are multiple) alongside the still-active line in Harrisonville just east of Commercial street. I've also boots-on-ground partially traced one of the lines that splits off at Harrisonville heading South-east and from what I can tell runs down to Clinton MO.

The history of these lines intrigues me. I've learned some about them already from this site and others. Most of the posts are at least 8 years old however and I'm interested to know if there is any more current information about these lines. They seem to be a combination of the old Frisco as well as KCM&M, KC&C and others. I plan to do more boots on ground exploration during my next time in Harrisonville in late August 2017 and would appreciate any tips, interesting facts, must-see sights, or other relevant info. Direct email is joetraugott@yahoo.com

    Joe, Welcome Aboard!
What you are looking for on this forum would be found using a few searches. Look for information relating to the Highline, Leaky Roof, KCC&S, KCO&S, and on the individual towns along the routes, including, of course, Harrisonville.
There has been much discussion on this forum regarding what you are interested in. Since the subject matter is of great interest to so many here, I would suspect that what is found by any of our members would be posted immediately, so what you find here would be of great benefit to you.

Hi Joe, welcome! I grew up in Harrisonville and walked most of those right-of-ways. As has already been stated, a LOT of info has been posted on Harrisonville and nearby locations. I am happy to answer any specific questions if I can. I have just returned from a week long visit to the metropolis of Peculiar, where my sister resides. I did some scouting of the old Frisco roadbed along I-49 and it is amazing how much has been wiped out.

I am still trying to get used to the whole "I-49" thing....it was always Highway 71 and that's how I am programmed.
