  1. Some torpedo boat shots if anyone is looking to build one sometime. Springfield 1977 and 1981. Jerry Hurt collection.

  4. You bet John. My dad gets the credit for taking I just shared. Luckily he has never been afraid to push the boundaries of railfanning with a camera. HA

Loved the black & yellow GP35's. Remind me of Darth Vader!
I remember seeing a few of them before I graduated from MSM, May, 1964, new looking, nice and shiny. Didn't stay that way long.
I had one of the Overland b/y torpedo tube models, definitely Darth Vaderish! Would pull anything you hooked it up to. It now works on either Jerry's or Steve's "Hurt" roster.

ps - The o/w paint scheme made the torpedo boats look too gentle, too civilized!

Steve, your Dad did a superb job of documenting, especially for something inaccessible and in an era where he couldn’t just snap hundreds of photos and then delete the undesirable image files.

Thanks a bunch for sharing with us.

I built a model of one of these once using an Athearn "wide-body" GP35. Can't for the life of me remember what I did with it, though.

  8. Glad you like them Chris. Hard to believe now that we used to plan the 24 or 36 pictures you would want the most, then wait to see what you actually got when they were printed.

I did the same Greg, I built B/Y 713 out of an old blue box. I dont really think it looks too bad once they are detailed. I built one that was O/W also when I was really young, that I that was really something at the time. But.... not so much now. HA They are not as noticeable as the GP-9 they offered was. Funny the disposition of your is a mystery.
