Long-time Frisco railfan, historian, friend and Master Model Railroader, Richard Napper will be sorely missed by his colleagues, friends, acquaintances and family. Richard was a humble man, but proud of his Frisco heritage and a staunch supporter of everything Frisco. He leaves behind a large legacy of modeling, electronics and publishing that few ever accomplish.

This has just appeared on the Frisco Yahoo Group emails:

"This is Richard's brother Greg. I hope I am contacting the correct model railroad association but I see Richard N listed on your website as vice-president.

Richard E. Napper was found dead by neighbors on Friday 03-08-2013 at 6:30pm. I am coming to Topeka on Monday 03-11-2013 to go to the Coroner's Office and start attending to the necessary arrangements. The Sheriff's office told me that the death was natural causes. I will contact you by phone when I am in Topeka regarding the time and place of the Memorial Service. Please notify anyone and any of your membership whom you think would be interested. Thank you

    Marshall G. Napper"

Our condolences and prayers go out to the Napper family. He will definitely be missed on this forum.

OMG. I am so heart-broken. I just started a working, business relationship with Richard, and he was full of life. When I saw that thread my heart sunk. What a horrible loss. May the Lord ease the bereavement of the family and tend to their hearts. I'm at a loss. This is horrible. So sad. So sad indeed.

I am very sorry to hear. Richard and I have had several private correspondences, and they were always both helpful and cordial. I know he was a mainstay of this organization, and his contributions will be missed.

I just lost a very good friend and mentor of all things Frisco. I have a good-sized amount of pictures he sent me over the years, as well as a boatload of correspondence. I knew he was suffering from diabetes, but didn't know about any other health issues. He will be deeply missed around the Thompson household.

My deepest condolences to his family and many friends. :(

I am deeply saddened by this news. Richard was a great part of this group and could be counted on to add helpful information on a variety of subjects. He really knew a lot of Frisco and modeling information. I will miss his participation on this forum.

What a shock; this is very sad. Richard loved the Frisco and shared his knowledge and passion with us unselfishly. He will leave a void in our community.

This is very bad news. I just talked to him a few days ago. Richard was the one who wanted everyone to put their names in their signatures a couple of weeks ago too. I am certainly sad to hear of his passing.

Very sad. I enjoyed his posts and articles in model railroad magazines, particularly the EMD RS3M that was featured in Railroad Model Craftsman a while back. Thoughts and prayers go to his family.

Terrible news. Richard was always very helpful and very knowledgeable in regards to things Frisco.

Not only has his family suffered an awful loss, this forum too, has just experienced a huge loss of modeling know-how and Frisco knowledge.

My deepest condolences to Richard's family.

Well, that just sucks! He was one of the nice guys in the hobby and willing to share what he had and what he knew.

I feel for his family and what they must be going through.

    RIP Richard.

Re: Sad news regarding Richard Napper.

I first met Richard 35 years ago at a model railroad meet in Springfield. Over the years was involved with him through the NMRA. He was a wealth of knowledge not only of the Frisco but ELectronics as well. When we last spoke we spent nearly an hour discussing Diabetes. He was very educated on this subject as well. Seems as though we shared several of the same ailments and interests in this life I was blessed to have known him. He was one of my go to guys and was a large factor in my quest to achieve MMR.
    Rest in Peace dear friend!
