Getting logged out for no apparent reason

I must be missing a setting somewhere. I keep getting "kicked off" the website and have to log in if I leave it for a few minutes.
This is driving me nuts (not far to go)!

This just started happening a few weeks ago.

Here's an explanation for those having trouble getting logged out.

When you log in, there is a box that says "Remember me." This feature is designed for people that do not have security concerns with their computer. In other words, if you, or you and your wife (etc.), are the only people who use your computer(s) and you have no worry that someone will use your computer to post on Frisco.org, then your best bet is to check the Remember me box.

When you log in, Frisco.org sets a cookie on your computer. If you do not check the Remember me box, the cookie will expire after so much time. I would have to look to see how much time that is in seconds. It's not more than a few minutes. When the cookie expires, you are logged out.

If you check the Remember me box, a stronger, non-expiring, cookie is set. This means that if you reboot your computer and come back to Frisco.org, you should already be logged in.

I am the only person that uses my laptop so I never log out of anything. I have no concern that anyone will use my laptop to do something they should not do.

Even if you prefer to log in and out each time you come to the site, I still suggest checking the Remember me box. At the end of your session, if you log out, you end up being in the same state (logged out) as if you had not checked the box when you logged in. The difference being that you were not logged out if you failed to click on something for so many seconds while you were here.

This system is designed for people that use a computer and step away from it leaving it unsecured where someone could access their account. Checking the Remember me box tells the site to set a cookie that will not expire.

An important thing to remember is that anti-virus and/or anti-spyware software (any kind of security software) that you have installed on your computer can affect this. If you use software that is highly restrictive, then you need to add Frisco.org to your trusted sites. Failing to do so could cause these kinds of software packages to kill the cookie, and as such you would be logged out.

If anyone does not understand this or has further questions, please ask.

However, as an addendum to the previous message (which is exactly correct), if you run some kind of disc cleanup program or Spy Sweep or some such, depending upon the program, it is very likely that the "remember me" long-term cookie will be deleted and you will have to log in again.

Funny, I have the remember me box checked, and when I sign out, all cookies are cleared. Without closing my browser, I come back in 20 to 30 minutes and I have to log back in. I prefer it this way, but doesn't jive with what was stated above. I do use CClearner, but a Frisco_Org cookie is never included in the cleanup. I always see what is cleaned, because I'm real jittery about these dang tracking cookies, which track you if you go to eBay, news, or even your own bank for crying out loud.

    Manny,

What you are saying does agree with what I said; if you click to log out, you end up being logged out regardless of whether or not you checked the box. Then, you still have to log in when you come back.

Thanks for the heads up guys.
If I continue to have any problems - I will try and work on my virus settings.
