I am working on a documentary celebrating the centennial of the town of Frisco, Texas, named for the Frisco railroad. Currently, I am looking for pictures of Louis W. Menk, president of the Frisco railroad in the mid 1960's. Any ideas where I might find one?
Suggest you contact the John W.Barriger 3rd National Railroad Library at http://www.umsl.edu/barriger/ which, I believe is now located at St.Louis Mercantile Library at the University of Missouri-St.Louis see http://www.umsl.edu/mercantile/mguides/directory/SLMA-117/slma-117.html Try Western Historical Manuscript Collection-Rolla whmcinfo@umr.edu who have Frisco archives and have published "Guide To The Historical Records Of The St.Louis- San Francisco Railway Co........" (I think the guide is listed on internet under WHMC's URL) Item 529, Box 47 contains periodicals including Lykes Fleet Flashes: Inside Story (Summer 1965)-an articole on Lou Menk, Pres. SLSF. You also might contact newspapers in St.Louis and Springfield, Mo.
Dear Jill D. I'm a lil slow (like almost 2 yrs! lol), but I MIGHT(?) be able to help you with that pix you're looking for. I've an old Frisco book on locomotive power when Frisco shifted over from steam to diesel electric. Old Loui's pix might be in there on the cover. I just have to find the book now ;o) Drop me a line, if you're still interested in a pix of him. Ok? Robert Tribble, Wichita Falls-Tx.
