Does anyone know of a source of decals for the Frisco double sheath box car 127000-129000 series? The herald is black background with white edge with FRISCO in white letters in the upper portion of the herald with LINES in smaller white letters in the lower portion of the herald. Accurail has the 129601 which I have and bought three more undec. to add to that series, but I cannot find the herald anywhere. I checked out the Art Griffin site that Manny mentioned in another thread, but all of those heralds are not what I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why not just buy three more of the SLSF 129601 kits and then change the road numbers with Accurail's excellent number changing decals?

I certainly would have done that if the cars had been available. The renumbering decals (which I already have) are available at Accurail, but the cars are not. I haven't seen one show up on ebay, either. I had learned of a source for the correct decals, but he had retired.

Maybe Mask Island would produce them???? He already has several Frisco decal sets.

Terry - Ah, I see. That certainly poses a problem!

The car was a popular one for Accurail with a number of the road names, including Frisco. Perhaps they will do another run with a different road number - they have done that with many of their popular kits. Perhaps you ought to contact them with that suggestion. I have two and would buy at least one or two others, as would many other folks I'm sure. It is a very good looking car, and the SLSF had a bunch of them.

It would be great if he did. I have several of his Frisco decals, and they are very good. It is a good suggestion. I have actually emailed Accurail to see if they have any left, but they have not responded.

I agree with Ken that they are good looking cars and would buy more if they produced them again.

Well, I received an answer from Eric Cote from Accurail, and he is going to make me 24 of these Frisco heralds. I was absolutely blown away when I read his email. I certainly won't need all of them, so if any of you are interested, I will make some available at the cost of the postage when I receive them. I have been happy with Accurail cars, but now I have another reason to be pleased with this company that supplies made in America items for us.

    Terry -

If available, I'd like to have two. I have a Walthers Frisco gon that badly needs to have it's coonskin heralds upgraded.

Accurail seems to be a good bunch (I forget the name of their principal). I talked with him a year or so back complementing them on how nice their older era Frisco cars look. Very nice of them to do this for you.

I will send you two, Ken. I can't tell you how high I am flying right now because of Eric's response. I had given up on this particular herald, and was thinking about using the regular Frisco herald:confused: which would not have been prototypical. It wouldn't have passed the ten foot test:mad: let along the three foot test.

A little more information to pass along: Eric from Accurail let me know that this run of decals is happening only because the timing of my request was absolutely perfect. He was preparing to run some other black and white decals and the Frisco herald was the same color along with the timing of their run. He made it very clear that they do not make special runs of decals, and he does not want others requesting any other special runs of decals. I will keep enough decals for any future projects I may have, so I can only let go of three more sets for a total of eight decals. I may be able to let go of a few more, but I need to see what Eric sends me, because he did say that three did not look as good as the others. However, that may not be a problem as these cars would have been old in the era I am modeling, and with some weathering, the imperfections can be disguised.
