"Frisco" Hancock whistle.

  1. A difficult forum to post to, It would upload the photos, but there was no place to type a message. (at least on my phone, where my photos are) Anyway, this is a shop built "Frisco Hancock" whistle. I don't know much about them, so I have a few questions. When and where were these whistles made ? Approximately how many were built ? What class of engines were they built for ? Why didn't they just purchase Hancock long bell whistles to start with ? and lastly, Is this old Zephyr Blue paint on the cast iron valve ? If it is Z Blue, about how many engines carried this color of paint?. It seems like most of the Frisco whistles I've seen, were the older Hancock flat top version, including 1522's. The step top seems to have been used in smaller numbers

Oh how many of us would love to have that!!!
The Frisco shops were very crafty and built their own whistles for one reason; to save money.
