Re: SLSF 78909 - Coal Gondolas
More SLSF coal gons. An interesting post card pic someone has posted on eBay.
Neat photo, Ken; thx for sharing. Are those KCFS&M reporting marks? Not too many photos I've seen of Yoakum's Frisco System with reporting marks other than the SL&SF.
Looks like KCFS&M to me - between the end markings and the markings above the side number, I think I can make out each letter.
Coal mining in Crawford County, Kansas, showing the ends of several wood coal gondolas (St.L-S.F., A.T.S.F., M.P?,). (I particularly enjoy the guy riding the brake wheel).

The SLSF shipped reasonable amounts of coal and other heavy materials, but always in two bay hoppers, until later on when they got into the unit train coal movements, when they had several series of modern 100-ton multi-bay coal hoppers in use. Any ideas why they stuck with ACF and PS two-bays so long?
Really nice stuff Ken, you always get the goods
