Sharon and I have been on a first name basis since my initial search for railroad pictures of my home town of Cape Girardeau. She has leaned on me for more detailed information about the Houck lines, Cape Girardeau Railroad (his first), Southern Missouri and Arkansas, Cape Girardeau & Chester, Cape Girardeau Northern, Cape Girardeau and Southwestern, and others, along with the Frisco, and Missouri Pacific. Most recently, she had inquired about the first activities regarding the alteration of Cape Rock, the rock promontory that exists just north of downtown Cape Girardeau. I forgot to reach out to @Karl to see if he had anything to share from his archives.
The Frisco abandoned the original track alignment on June 19, 1910. I have yet to find anything that would list when blasting commenced. I have a Cape history that I need to find, which may have further info. Here's part of a sheet, which shows the area in question. Note these names on the map as well. F. Brand, Fredrick A. Brand, Sr, 1829-1912 is my Great, Great Grandfather, Louis Fritz is my Great, Great Grandfather, whose daughter, Louisa, 1871-1957, married Fredrick A. Brand, Jr, 1863-1928. I have but the vaguest memory of her. All are buried in church yard of Trinity Lutheran Church, Egypt Mills, MO.
