Flat car load

Used another one of the extremely crude flat cars that a friend sent me. Man, some people shouldn't even try to model...It would take two paragraphs to describe what all had to be rebuilt on this flat car, and it still needs more work.

As for the HO crate...it was made from popsicle sticks. It took a little extra work, but why spend money on stripwood or a crate somebody else made when you can make one yourself. The curved ends were cut off and the sticks were taped to a cutting board. In order to make it look like individual boards, the popsicle sticks were marked and scribed. Then the entire thing was glued together.

Anyway, Ft Worth Steel and Machinery needed some oilfield machinery sent to West Texas, so it was crated and will be shipped via a flatcar. The load still needs to be tied down to the flatcar, but other than that, it's done.

Thanks, Keith. It's fun finding stuff around the house to make things out of. While researching flat car loads I found an O scale load that a guy made out of parts from a fishing reel. The flat car had to be modified, as well. The styrene / steel beams really looked like welded beams that the reel sat on.

One more to add to this thread, though it's not a flatcar. Completed a pipe load for one of the Frisco gons.
